Job Description:
Purpose of Job:
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by assisting the Pharmacist in providing prescriptions to patients as follows:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Fills prescriptions accurately by counting, measuring, labeling, and packaging medications.
* Provides excellent customer service to patients utilizing CHAS Health pharmacies.
* Monitors and maintains appropriate levels of medication and supplies, places orders, and manages inventory.
* Enters prescription information into the computer system, maintains patient profiles, and ensures accuracy in patient records.
* Verifies insurance information, processes insurance claims, and communicates with insurance companies to ensure coverage for prescribed medications.
* Collaborates with pharmacists in various tasks, including preparing medications, managing workflow, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Follows state and federal regulations related to pharmacy practices, including HIPAA requirements for patient privacy.
* Keeps the pharmacy area clean, organized, and in compliance with safety protocols.
* Reviews outside prescriber prescriptions for 340B eligibility at CHAS Health pharmacies and documents in the electronic health record.
* Requests refills to the appropriate provider on behalf of the patient.
* Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Pharmacy Technician Board certification (PTCB or NHA) certification required. Technicians working in Washington locations must have active Pharmacy Technician Certification license with WA Department of Health at time of hire. Technicians working in Idaho must have active Certified Pharmacy Technician Registration license with ID State Board of Pharmacy at time of hire. Float positions require both ID and WA licensure within 120 days of hire. Experience with third-party billing required. Experience with electronic health records required.
Skills: Excellent customer service and oral and written communication skills required. Compassion for patients required. Must be able to work well in a team environment. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and anticipate future needs is required. Computer skills required. Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required. BLS (CPR/AED) required. Valid driver's license and insurance required for float positions.
Physical Demands:
Technicians must be able to move around the facility between one-third and two-thirds of the day, while sitting at a workstation occurs under one-third of the day. Using hands and reaching with arms occurs over two-thirds of the day. Communicating is required over two-thirds of the day, while climbing, stooping, or crawling is minimal. Lifting/moving up to 10 lbs. occurs frequently, while 25-50 lbs. occurs occasionally.

Pharmacy Technician will work in pharmacies in the Yakima to Tri-Cities area.
What You'll Do:
Enters patient data in the system including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor and diagnosis. Enters the prescription in the system, selecting the brand, product/drug, and appropriate strength to align with the instructions given by the prescribing Provider.
Fills or dispenses the product from the pharmacy stock and delivers to patient.
Processes prescription refills verifying refill availability.
Maintains awareness of stock level and enters order for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels. Verifies quantity and submits order to the Wholesaler.
Verifies product orders received with invoice and purchase order. Places a sticker on each item and places on the shelf.
Monitors and checks expiration dates on drugs in stock and prepares expired stock for return to Wholesaler. Processes credit invoices associated with the returns.
Returns or discards dispensed prescription to stock if not picked up by patient in 30 days. Enters information in the system for reverse billing.
Completes third party billing form and contacts Provider if prior authorization is required.
Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
One year's experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
Pharmacy Technician license for states of practice. Alternatively, may have an active Pharmacy Intern License for the states of practice.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required must demonstrate the ability to communicate at level 9.
The PharmacistTechnician Float and Relief (Per Diem) positions require the ability to travel and have reliable transportation for possible coverage at surrounding Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) sites, as assigned.
Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning and copying.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail.
Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems including Microsoft Office preferred.
Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and ability to learn new systems.
This job will require a pre-employment drug screen which would take place after extending a conditional offer of employment.

* Responsible for the provision of technical support of drug distribution services for all hospital areas supported by the inpatient pharmacy including the infusion center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform computer entry of prescription information including but not limited to: patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry and basic problem resolution. Accept customer and prescription information required to process refill prescriptions, including refill authorization and prior authorizations from doctor offices where permitted by state law and Health West protocol. Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Technician in the retail pharmacy setting when called upon to do so. Detail Specific Experience/Responsibilities: Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with pharmacy services. Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful patient experience. Resolves patient issues and answers questions to ensure a positive patient experience. Assists in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses and other health care providers. Models and shares patient service best practices with all team members to deliver distinctive and delightful patient experience. Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers. Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Experience/Responsibilities:
* Minimum of 2 years' experience as a certified technician in retail and/or hospital setting.
* Ability to work independently and with fellow coworkers.
* Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
* Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
