A Brief Overview
Responsible for the assessment, treatment, and management, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions affecting the cardiopulmonary system for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults. The individual must demonstrate proficiency in all modalities of respiratory care, which may include, but not limited to oxygen therapy, breathing treatments, airway clearance, blood gases, airway management, non-invasive and invasive ventilator setup and monitoring. This position may also be required to work in the sleep lab.
What you will do
Evaluates patients in order to receive, review, interpret, and administer the prescribing orders regarding respiratory and cardiopulmonary treatments and tests. Accurately documents patient assessment, interventions, and progress in the electronic medical record, as well as submits charges in an accurate and timely manner.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care. Initiates and implements respiratory care plans and interventions to meet the needs of the patient in conjunction with the entire healthcare team to ensure full understanding and cooperation to improve patient outcomes.
Performs administration, set-up, titration, maintenance, evaluations and documentation of supplemental oxygen, aerosol therapy, airway clearance techniques, mechanical invasive or non-invasive ventilator management, and preparation and administration of respiratory medications.
Ensures airway patency including various means of suctioning. (tracheal, nasal, and oral). Attends and assists to patients in respiratory or cardiac arrest by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency airway care.
Performs arterial and capillary punctures, runs venous, arterial and capillary blood gas samples, electrolytes and lactic acid tests and maintains and operates the Blood Gas analyzer.
May assist in Pulmonary Rehab by providing appropriate exercises and education to participants.
May assist in outpatient clinic as needed and may schedule sleep studies and obtains prior authorizations for the sleep studies when applicable.
Performs diagnostic testing through pulmonary function, stress exercise, electrocardiograms, electroencephalograms, oximetry, holter and cardiac event monitoring.
Instructs clinical staff on the use of respiratory therapy equipment and the use of the EKG equipment.
Assists with implementing and updating policies and procedures, maintenance of quality assurance reports and records, and maintenance of equipment and ordering of supplies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, standards of nursing practice, state and federal regulations.
· Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor with guidance from the Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with another Registered Nurse.
· Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of dialysis data for assigned patients and documents in the patient medical record, makes adjustments or modifications to treatment plan as indicated and notifies Supervisor or physician as needed.

· Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
· Serves as a resource for health care team, participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.
· Ensures correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures are performed and reschedules missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
· Identifies expected outcomes, documents and updates the nursing assessment and plan of care for assigned patients through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.

· Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

The Radiologic Technologist is able to work in all atmospheres including clinic, hospital, ED, and OR settings where there are a broad range of fields like fluoroscopy, surgery, orthopedics, general, and emergency for the Radiologist Technologist to work under. One of the characteristics of a Rad Tech at Sanford is the need for precision, which is important in this line of work because the providers need quality imaging to give diagnoses to their patients. Sanford Radiology Technologists employees will have opportunities for advancement into other modalities including CT, MRI, and Mammo.
Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images
Ensures accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures according to provider requests
Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process
Ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols
Perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA procedures)
Qualifications
Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
Working knowledge of diagnostic radiographic principles, including radiographic positioning, film/image processing, quality
control, and radiation protection is required.
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) is required.
If working in South Dakota, candidates must obtain their ARRT certification within 60 days of hire.
In the state of Iowa, all technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public
Health in order to practice in the state of Iowa
If working at some clinic locations, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification may be required within the first eight weeks of hire into the position.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.

Job Summary
The MDS Nurse uses independent judgment in the planning, organizing, directing, and evaluation of activities of the professional and supportive nursing staff engaged in resident plan of care. Evaluates care provided to each resident and keeps care plans current. Is the direct lead in regards to the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. The RN demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. The RN cares for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. The RN is responsible for the coordination of care, resident assessment, resident education and various other nursing interventions.
The RN may serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel that are within the job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate. As charge, the RN provides adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
The RN functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Qualifications
Graduate from a National League of Nursing (NLN) or American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) accredited nursing program is preferred. Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
Minimum of one-year experience working as licensed nurse with the senior population preferred. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified (RAC-CT), management or supervisory experience preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
