The intention of Community Based Support Counselor is to reduce crises associated with behavioral and psychiatric challenges. Provide community-based services to children and families who may have difficulty engaging in formal office settings to help achieve stability and improve daily living skills and improve their interpersonal relationships at home, in school, and in the community. SCHEDULE:
Looking for an applicant who is willing to work with the youth/families at a time that suits the youth and family needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position that includes some evening and weekend flexibility.

* Master's degree in social work, psychology, or in related human services, plus one year of applicable experience or who have been certified in an Evidence Based Practice (in lieu of one-year experience requirement). These practitioners may also include: Registered Professional Nurses with one year of behavioral health experience, Licensed Occupational Therapists, and Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT) to the extent they are operating under the scope of their license.
* Bachelor's degree and certification in an Evidenced Based Practice consistent with the CPST component being delivered.
* Bachelor's degree and three years applicable experience in children's mental health, addiction, and/or foster care/child welfare/juvenile justice or other related human services field and no certification in an Evidenced Based Practice
* Experience working with children and families in a community-based or 'in-home' setting
* Experience with foster care system; specifically with foster parents and youth preferred
* Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills
* A strong belief in the capacity of people to grow and change
* Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to appreciate and encourage diversity, and understand the concept of cultural trauma as it applies to individual and family functioning

The Behavioral Health Counselor facilitates patient involvement in the milieu of treatment and education. Performs functions of individual, group and family counseling. Performs all functions related to utilization review and discharge planning. Effectively communicates and collaborates with all members of the health care team to facilitate the episode of care so the patient receives services in a safe and timely manner, and the patient and family are provided all necessary resources and education. Interprets and communicates complex patient/family needs and role models caring practices to other caregivers. • Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related area is required.

Behavioral Counselor Position Summary

The behavioral counselor is a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals staffing the middle/senior high school wellness center. The team also includes a nurse practitioner/center coordinator, a registered dietitian, an administrative assistant, and a collaborating physician. Patients may be seen in-person or via telehealth. The behavioral counselor will work with a pre-teen and adolescent population providing behavioral risk assessments, individual and/or group counseling, and crisis intervention with referrals to community resources when additional care is deemed appropriate. They will work as a team member with other Wellness Center staff to provide a holistic approach to care for students and their families in the center.

Behavioral Counselor Position Requirements

+ Licensed or eligible for Delaware licensure as clinical social worker (LCSW) or professional counselor of mental health (LPCMH) required.

+ Minimum of 1-year clinical counseling, preferably including adolescent experience.

Behavioral Counselor Work Schedule

+ Four working days each week between Monday-Friday

+ Work schedule follows the school calendar, i.e. Holidays, in-service days, and Professional Development days
