Manisha Sharma, M.D., is a board certified family medicine physician who works at the juncture of patient care, community health, social justice, health policy, and innovation. She is committed to “being the change” in how healthcare is delivered in the United States. In June 2018, Dr. Sharma joined Community Health Group, a nonprofit health plan serving 300,000+ Medicaid and Medicare members of the San Diego area. She currently serves as the interim Chief Medical Officer.

Her work has included being Director of Primary Care & Community Health for CareMore Health in Memphis, TN designing a comprehensive primary care model for 15,000 people gaining their healthcare access through Medicaid. Additionally, she was a clinical innovator for Iora Health, a mission driven, integrative primary care and technology company where she served as the Co-Director of Physician Engagement & Co-Director of the Iora Primary Care Leadership Academy and Fellowship program. Before Iora Health, Dr. Sharma was the first medical director at Evergreen Health Care, designing a comprehensive primary care team model. She served as the clinical lead in building Evergreen’s four health centers “from the ground up”.

Dr. Sharma continues to lecture widely on health equity, coalition building, social impacts on health, physician activism and social justice. She has appeared on several major television networks, including MSNBC, CNN & Fox News addressing health policy, wellness, & preventive medicine. Dr. Sharma has been invited to lend her voice as a speaker before the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on the Governance and Financing of Graduate Medical Education, the National Council of Negro Women, & the Democratic National Committee with President Obama.

Dr. Sharma now resides in the San Diego area where she continues her grassroots commitment towards achieving health equity through her activism and clinical work serving vulnerable communities.
