OVERVIEW
The Environmental Health & Safety Intern provides direct support to drive site EH&S issues including regulatory and Environmental, Health and Safety Management System and ISO14001 conformance at multiple Plexus manufacturing locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in and conduct Lockout Tagout training.Maintain, administer and ensure conformance and awareness of the EHS-MS across all functional groups Accident and Incident investigations Weekly hazardous waste inspection Monthly spill prevention and control plan inspection Disseminate with discretion, relevant EHS information received from corporate EHS to the appropriate teams within the site.Where assigned, act as the primary first point of EHS contact for internal and external customers to ensure expectations are met.Interfaces with and utilizes the Corporate EHS functional management team for resources and expertise, while maintaining local ownership of issues.Ensures the Site is proactive in identifying, maintaining and complying with applicable county, federal, state and local regulatory requirements.Understand and manage day-to-day compliance activities and maintain records to demonstrate compliance.Coordinate hazardous waste handling activities.Obtain knowledge and understanding of Plexus' manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for best EHS management practices.Other duties as assigned by manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Student working toward a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field for entire duration of internship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Junior level status GPA: 3.0 or higher is preferred

+ Participates and supports the development, implementation and maintenance of an Environmental Health and Safety Management System that conforms to internal and external standards and requirements

+ Develops and deploys programs for the prevention and control of environmental risks, including compliance with air permits, construction permits, solid and hazardous wastes, wastewater operations, release notifications and all environmental reporting requirements

+ Conducts site wide environmental, health and safety audits. Analyzes and interprets results, recommends appropriate corrective actions, communicates results and follows up on issues or concerns through completion
+ Ensures all environmental, health and safety incidents are promptly reported

+ Participates in review and approval of operations/facilities projects that involve proposed modification of any existing process, equipment or material as well as proposed introduction of any new process, equipment or material to ensure compliance with all general environmental rules as well as air pollution control, storm water management, RCRA, or other such construction permitting requirements

+ Leads site air permit compliance program, collection of required records/calculations, oversight of inspection activities, semi-annual reports, annual emissions reporting, deviation management, change management, and training of affected employees

Qualifications:
