Community Hospice Of Texas company history timeline

1996

That dream became a reality on May 1, 1996, when the largest not-for-profit hospice in the state was formed as Community Hospice of Texas in the DFW area and Providence Hospice in the Waco region.

In 1996 leaders from Harris Hospital, St Joseph Hospital (now Ascension Providence), and Huguley Hospital (now a Texas Health Resource partner) all had a vision.

1997

The opening of the twelve bed W. Erle and Emma White Hospice Inpatient Center on January 27, 1997 marked the beginning of a new era for Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Also in 1997, Hospice Austin purchased the former Christopher House, a 15-bed AIDS in-patient facility.

1998

In February 1998, Hospice Austin opened the area’s first in-patient hospice facility and renamed it Hospice Austin’s Christopher House.

2003

Since November 2003, Community Healthcare of Texas has been accredited for quality home and community care by the Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP). CHAP sets the highest standards for community and home-based health services and products.

2005

Our latest service expansion occurred in 2005 to include the counties of Foard, Hardeman, and Knox in North Texas.
