Established in 1979, Community Hospice & Palliative Care is an innovative national leader in palliative and hospice care, as well as providing programs and services to meet the diverse needs of the communities it serves.
That dream became a reality on May 1, 1996, when the largest not-for-profit hospice in the state was formed as Community Hospice of Texas in the DFW area and Providence Hospice in the Waco region.
In 1996 leaders from Harris Hospital, St Joseph Hospital (now Ascension Providence), and Huguley Hospital (now a Texas Health Resource partner) all had a vision.
Since November 2003, Community Healthcare of Texas has been accredited for quality home and community care by the Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP). CHAP sets the highest standards for community and home-based health services and products.
The Hospice of the Bluegrass℠ Patient Census reaches over 800 served for June 2005, and continues to be 800-plus each month through the rest of the year.
