1924

The Association raised $369,000 – of which Condit initially donated $50,000 - the hospital officially opened on July 15, 1924

1933

By the time the 1933 earthquake hit, Long Beach was able to take care of the dozens of injured at its four hospitals: Seaside, Community, St Mary’s and Harriman Jones Clinic and Hospital.

1939

Fillmore Condit died in Long Beach in 1939 and was buried in Caldwell, New Jersey

1954

In 1954, a group of osteopaths opened Pacific Hospital adjacent to the Long Beach Public Health Department.

1960

A $6.5 million bond issue passed and helped fund the building of Memorial Hospital of Long Beach in 1960.

Seaside Hospital became Seaside Memorial Hospital and in 1960, became the Los Angeles County Chronic Disease Hospital.

1970

Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach opened in 1970, with many innovative patient and family centered care features, such as patient rooms to accommodate a parent’s overnight stay.

1975

It publishes 206 issues and has 10,214 readers in 1,725 hospitals and 13 western states before HASC sells it for $1 to the Association of Western Hospitals in 1975.

1984

HASC plays an important role in the highly successful 1984 Olympics by organizing an emergency health care and first-aid system for athletes and spectators.

2001

After the attacks of September 11, 2001, federal and state agencies provide for increased funding to prepare for bioterrorism or mass casualty events.

2003

In 2003, women’s health care became part of Miller Children’s & Women's Hospital Long Beach when it brought women’s services (maternity care) under its license.

2009

In order to meet the growing needs of the community, Miller Children’s opened an outpatient satellite center in Torrance in 2009.

2010

In 2010, another location opened in Fountain Valley.

2016

In 2016, Miller Children’s NICU opened the 36-bed Small Baby Center – the largest in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

2017

The East Pod will be the last to open and is set to be ready in Summer 2017.
