Status/FTE: FT / 0.6-0.8 FTE Shift length: 12 hours Start Time: 0700 Unit: ICU Schedule Requirements (including weekends, holidays): Every third weekend
Unit specific additional qualifications: The RN utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of patient from admission to the department through discharge or transfer. Provides expert care and education to patients in the critical care setting, acts as a patient advocate, leader, mentor, and positive role model for assistive personnel. Knowledgeable in all procedures, disease processes, interventions, and pharmacological agents related to critical care.
Required qualifications:
* Current state RN license
* Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school
* BLS for Healthcare Provider upon hire
* ACLS required within six months of hire
* Two (2) years of nursing experience required
Preferred qualifications:
* BSN
* Experience in critical care
* Previous experience with IntraAortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
* CCRN certification

JOB SUMMARY:
The ICURegisteredNurse (RN) is responsible for professional nursing care of patients in the assigned area/department, including identification of patient needs and implementation of nursing interventions utilizing the nursing process. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assesses patient's condition and nursing needs.
2. Identifies goals through the care planning process.
3. Identifies appropriate nursing actions to meet care-planning goals with regards to patient's holistic needs.
4. Exhibits age-appropriate competencies: newborn, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
5. Answers call lights promptly.
6. Upon completion of all nursing interventions, documents accurately and thoroughly in the appropriate area of the patient record in accordance to organization policy.
7. Reports changes in patient condition or pertinent observations to the appropriate physician and/or other member of the healthcare team.
8. Actively participates in patient/family education and the discharge planning process.
9. Assists physicians with special tests and procedures, including the insertion of invasive lines.
10. Participates in orientation of new personnel.
11. Assists with and/or initiates emergency measures appropriately.
12. Participates in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment.
13. Actively participates in Performance Improvement.
14. Accepts accountability for own actions.
15. Responsible for being able to interpret cardiac rhythms.
16. Responsible for providing care for patients on mechanical ventilation.
17. Maintains current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification.
18. Completes all annual required educational competencies.
19. Attends all mandatory in-service trainings.
20. Ability to initiate and titrate IV medications.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May be required to float to other areas of the hospital.

The Clinical Coordinator assists the Manager and/or Director in providing leadership and management within the assigned department(s). May supervise nursing and non-nursing staff depending on the staff mix within an assigned department. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible and accountable for the coordination of the operational and clinical activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to personal management to include clinical personnel selection, orientation/training, scheduling, development/mentoring, performance appraisals, coaching and counseling, disciplinary actions, patient/resident care delivery, physician relationships, intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities, quality control and process improvement activities, regulatory compliance and fiscal control. Assists in the development of policies and procedures. In the absence of the Manager/Director, may assume responsibility and accountability for management of the assigned department(s).
Essential Job Functions
* Provides leadership within the assigned department(s) in the accomplishment of organizational/departmental goals and objectives. * Organizes ongoing communication between all health care providers regarding aspects of patient/resident care and department(s) functions. Acts to resolve conflicts in a timely manner. Develops collaborative relationships with physicians to enhance quality practice and quality outcomes. Provides consultation for patients/residents care related concerns and acts as a patient/resident and staff advocate as needed.
* Participates in both short and long term planning for departmental functions and budgetary processes and fiscal control.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance and ensures staff adherence to the same. Monitors and ensures compliance with quality and regulatory standards (i.e., CMS, OSHA, Magnet, etc.). Prevents, minimizes and/or corrects risks to patients/residents, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Investigates unusual occurrences and follows appropriate procedure.
* Utilizes process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient/resident care. Develops quality initiatives as appropriate based on patient satisfaction scores, medication error data, employee satisfaction scores, regulatory compliance, and/or other issues as identified.

The Transfer Center Nurse is the first point of contact when a regional provider is seeking assistance for their patient through the Billings Clinic Transfer Center. The incumbent in this position acts as an advocate for patients serving as the primary point of contact and is responsible for coordinating the care and services of the identified neurology patient populations for an extended period of time across the continuum of care for both inpatient and outpatient services; promoting effective resource utilization; assuming a leadership role with the multidisciplinary team to achieve an optimal clinical outcome.
This role requires the candidate to assist in a variety of clinical and operational aspects of workflow within the Neurology Department. The successful Pre/Post-Op and 23 Hour Stay Surgery Center RN will be an integral component in facilitating patient flow and throughput while maintaining high levels of quality care which are consistent with recognized national nursing standards, legal requirements and Surgery Center policies and procedures. The duties will encompass the pre-operative care area and post-operative care area, which include both phase I and phase II recovery as well as the 23-hour extended stay unit.
Essential Job Functions
* Oversees and directs the care of the pre-surgical/post-procedural patient and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout the patient's experience.
* Evaluates and completes assessment of patient needs to provide supportive care before, during and after surgery and maintains complete and accurate records.
* Provides safe, therapeutic, and quality direct patient care to the pre-operative and post-surgery patient by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner, setting appropriate priorities.
* Recognizes and interprets symptoms indicative of changes in condition of patient and communicates appropriate information to co-workers, surgeons, and anesthesiologists concerning patient care.
* Safely carries out physician's orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.
* Communicates and interacts with patients and family in a positive and supportive manner.
* Assists in patient education during all phases of the patient's experience. Ensures informed signed consents are completed prior to administration of sedation.
* Prepares all records pertaining to the procedure.
* Maintains equipment and supplies to include cleaning and disinfection of equipment, operates and troubleshoots specialized equipment and patient monitoring equipment, anticipates and assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and medications.
* Post procedure assists with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
* Assists in crash cart maintenance and defibrillator checks.
* Accountable for administration of drugs, IV procedures and other therapeutic and diagnostic measures in a safe and accurate manner. Initiates orders and follows anesthesia protocol.
* Staffing working in the pre-op area and phase II area maintain ACLS. Staff working phase I maintain both ACLS and PALS.
* Label's specimen containers in front of the patient and prepares specimens for the laboratory.
* Completes discharge procedure safely, providing proper post-operative instruction and assists patient to vehicle.
* Initiates and participates in patient and family education.
* Complies with cost containment practices.
* Provides oversight and direction to other Surgery Center technical and ancillary personnel.
* Assists with orientation and training of new or existing staff members.
* Takes responsibility for identification of own professional growth and development needs; meets all system/departmental educational requirements. Participates with in-service opportunities and staff meetings.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. Adheres to national patient safety standards and identifies and anticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate action to minimize or eliminate risks and maximize safety in the Surgery Center.
