Starship Explorer is a 36-bed, acute care unit with a patient population comprised primarily of surgical patients. The surgical services includes, but is not limited to cardiac, trauma, neurosurgery, ENT and orthopedic patients. Explorer's patients are both inpatient and observation patients. Explorer has central monitoring capabilities and 4 rooms with negative pressure capabilities. Explorer utilizes Valley Children's Healthcare L.E.G.A.C.Y. Nursing Care Delivery Model which embraces a philosophy of professional practice that supports an environment of excellence in patient care. Apollo RN I SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing competent nursing care. We have access to all of the Hospital's pediatric subspecialties and their associated physicians. The Department is staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. In addition to their years of experience in providing pediatric emergency care, our emergency specialists have undergone a minimum of three years of general pediatric training plus an additional two to three years of fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine. The Clinical Research Nurse, ensures that the health and safety of research participants and the integrity and quality of clinical trials, are maintained and conducted in accordance with federal, state, IRB, departmental, and institutional regulations, policies and procedures. The Clinical Research Nurse will primarily provide nursing expertise and care to research study patient management with primary focus on bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy clinical trial protocols. They will ensure compliance to study protocols, may participate in feasibility evaluation, recruitment, consenting and enrollment activities, perform medical tests and procedures to facilitate study patient visits, provide investigational medication education and training, administer treatments, support side effect and adverse event monitoring, coordinate data collection, documentation and reporting, as applicable. In collaboration with research teams, they will support and provide direction in internal and external monitoring and auditing activities. They will serve as a liaison and work closely with investigators, department members, study sponsors, IRB and the institution, to support administration of compliance, financial, personnel and other related aspects of all ongoing clinical studies. Compensation PRN Salary Range: $61.50 - $68.50 per hour The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Qualifications Required: * Current CA Registered Nurse License * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification * Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification * Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification * Minimum of six (6) months of recent full-time acute care experience in an acute care hospital or the equivalent * Successful completion of Stroke/Sepsis Education competency within 6 months of hire Preferred: * Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) * Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) * Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) * Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) * Previous ER experience, and/or Six (6) months acute care experience * Knowledge of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) & College of American Pathologist (CAP) Requirements Overview When it comes to quality, we're 5 Star!
