What Does A Community Organizer Do At Communities Creating Opportunity

* 1. Faith
* Based Organizing Cultivate relationships with clergy and people of faith in assigned geography to enable CCO to achieve its strategic goals and objectives and position leaders for public life.
* Contribute to the development and presentation of organizing training for staff, leaders and community members in the principles and strategies of community organizing, civic engagement and in skill building.
* Support the organizing of a regional team that includes clergy, people of faith, and other partners that can be leveraged to deepen CCO s base of support needed to advance critical issues in assigned geography.
* Support the regional team co-chairs within assigned geography by ensuring meetings occur regularly, chair is kept abreast of what is happening in other geographies, leadership pathways are developed and information is shared with your supervisor and regional team.
* Turnout individuals to events within assigned geography and more broadly to CCO federated events and sustain participation through integrated voter engagement.
* Campaigns and federated events Serve as organizer on CCO s key campaigns, (e.g., Medicaid expansion and the building of a moral economy).
* Contribute to initiatives to integrate civic engagement into the full life of communities and congregations CCO serves and positions priority decision-making within these geographies.
* Manage a diverse group of volunteers in community organizing and civic engagement activities (one to one conversations, research sessions, public actions, voter registration, canvassing, phone banking, etc.).
* Leadership Development and Membership Assist leaders in defining vision and goals and train leaders to act in the public arena with measurable impact with accountability to their community.
* Work closely with your supervisor to move leaders through an organizing leadership pathway intended to deepen their participation in CCO s work and public life.
* Promote and encourage the participation of current and emerging leaders in CCO s federated leadership trainings and workshops, tracking rate of participation.
* Work closely with your supervisor and the membership lead to cultivate and encourage key clergy, congregations and community members to become CCO members.
* Work closely with CCO team to further communications and fundraising strategies as assigned
