Dynamic Opportunity ~ As a full-time supervisor, working 40 hours per week, the Assistant Director for the Community Support Services Program supports Director and CSS employees in providing services to individuals whom have a mental illness and are residing in the community with assistance to maintain community tenure and secured housing. The program provides psychiatric rehabilitation and support services to foster self sufficiency, increased independence and community integration.

The Guidance Center ~ is a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care for individuals and families with mental health needs in the greater Cumberland County, NJ area. For more than 50 years, our non-profit organization of professionals, doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, has assisted the community in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of mental illness.

What does this position look like ~ The Assistant Director of CSS engages in advocacy and coordinate service linkages. Assists individuals to develop healthy social and daily living skills. Completes documentation of services. Facilitates administrative processes for representative payee funds. Provides crisis intervention and support crisis de-escalation. Assists the CSS Director in providing programmatic oversight including adherence to regulations, quality improvement processes, administrative tasks and in field supervision and training of employees.

What you need to apply ~

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a human service discipline (social work, psychology, or related human services field).
  • Active NJ licensure - Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (LAMFT) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW.)
  • One year supervisory experience.
  • Two years experience in mental health/behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of community resources and agencies.
  • Valid automobile driver's license with MVR which meets agency standards.
  • Spanish speaking preferred but not required.

The Community Mental Health Service Director will provide leadership and administrative oversight to an assigned group of programs, including clubhouse services, peer specialists, and all PERC/RLC operations.
This position is an Exempt position.

Reports To: Vice President of Mental Health Community Services

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the Clubhouse Program Directors, the REAL Program Director, Assistant Director of Recovery, and other Program Directors as assigned
Serves as mentor to all Peer Coordinators, Peer Specialists, and Peer Support Workers

Essential Functions of Position:
•Provide support to Peer Coordinators, Peer Specialists, and Peer Support Workers in Mental Health Community Services.
•Oversee all PERC/RLC operations and participate in leadership meetings.
•Oversee the operations of the clubhouses.
•Provides supervision to senior staff in the interviewing, hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of staff in the Service Area.
•Assists in the development and implementation of in-service training for all Service Area staff.
•Contributes to the ongoing assessment, development and evaluation of the programs' rehab, peer, and recovery focused services, in cooperation with agency and funders.
•Provides for the planning, development, implementation, operation and outcome delivery for services in concert with the Vice President of Mental Health Community Service.
•Seek and secure contract and grant funding to sustain services.
•Promotes safety, respect, dignity, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
•Other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Mental Health Community Services.

Qualifications:
•BA/BS required. MA in rehabilitation, social work or related field preferred. Masters Degree may be waived for a BA/BS plus substantial supplementary training in psychiatric rehabilitation, or three years' additional experience.
•5 years' experience in a mental health or rehabilitation setting, at least two years of which must be in a supervisory role.
•Demonstrated passion for collaborating with Persons, their families, communities, and staff to develop and implement clinical services which are informed by evidence-based practices, which are recovery- and resiliency-oriented, and which achieve relevant, measurable outcomes.
•Demonstrated knowledge of current principles and techniques needed to carry out the program's mission.
•Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Demonstrated management, supervision and teaching ability.
•An individual who has demonstrated successful recovery from mental illness and can now serve as a mentor to others who are in the process of developing resilience.
•A Certified Peer Specialist and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor is preferred.
•Demonstrated relationship-building skills.
•High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
•Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.

* Manage the Jersey City service request team. You'll use our mobile technology to assign all incoming service requests to your team, taking into account each individual's skills, workload, and learning opportunities. * Manage the Building Systems at 70 Greene. You'll be responsible for repairing or maintaining all plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, carpentry, and painting needs at the community, providing training to other team members as needed.
* Implement and manage a scheduled maintenance program. Monitor the maintenance and up-keep of all mechanical equipment on the community including water heaters, HVAC units, elevator systems and centralized boiler systems.
* Build rapport with residents. You'll make positive connections with residents by offering a smile and a greeting when you see them and chatting as you make repairs in their homes.
* Notice the details. Complete daily property walks and regular community inspections to proactively recommend necessary repairs or replacement of any interior or exterior areas on the property.
* Focus on performance metrics ranging from your community's Customer Loyalty Score to apartment turnover efficiency - and everything in between.

REQUIREMENTS

* 3+ years of hands-on general maintenance experience
* Supervisory experience
* Adaptability, multi-tasking and sound decision making abilities are required and essential to the success of this role
* Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and rotating on-call responsibility for after-hours emergencies
