The PSS-1 Software Systems Development (SSD) Team is seeking an energetic and customerāfocused Software Developer (SD). The SSD team is responsible for the development of software tools to assist ALDWP organizations meet mission objectives. The SD will support the development of the new F.O.R.G.E. web application. The SSD team adheres to the SCRUM Framework for software development and the SD must be comfortable working within that framework. The SD must be proficient in the following areas:
C# .NET Development
Developing Blazor Web Applications
Working with Microsoft SQL
Working with Microsoft IIS Web Hosting Environment
Entity Framework
LINQ
Using SignalR for dynamic updates to web applications
Single Sign On(SSO) and SAML authentication
API Development
Securing APIs
Unit Testing
Azure Dev Ops - Including Pipelines
Experience working in a SCRUM Development environment.
Education Position typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Project Engineers at this level are instrumental in driving the successful execution of complex technical projects that directly support the U.S. nuclear deterrent. You will be embedded in the Plutonium Facility engineering team, ensuring continuity of operations, design excellence, and successful implementation of high-risk systems.
Responsibilities and Duties
Lead and manage full-lifecycle project engineering efforts from scope development to closeout
Interface with internal customers and stakeholders to define project needs and technical strategy
Guide multi-disciplinary teams through engineering reviews and deliverable milestones
Oversee change control processes and ensure compliance with LANL standards
Collect, manage, and archive all project documentation and test data per DOE requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive experience leading technical teams on complex, multi-system projects
Expert understanding of DOE/DOD standards, including NQA-1, ASME, NFPA, IBC, etc.
Strong background in cost/schedule management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, EVMS)
Demonstrated success navigating regulatory environments and high-consequence operations
Strong interpersonal and documentation skills
Desired Skills
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Deep familiarity with LANL engineering standards (ESM, Conduct of Engineering)
Project leadership in glovebox, electrical, or manufacturing systems highly desired
Mentorship experience with early-career engineers
Previous DOE/DOD or high-consequence facility experience (nuclear, pharma, oil/gas)
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Bachelor's in Engineering (ABET-accredited) + 12 years' relevant experience
Desired: Advanced technical degree and active PE license
