Pensacola State College is a public, comprehensive community college that was founded as Pensacola Junior College in 1948. As the oldest and largest college in the Panhandle, PSC serves traditional and non-traditional students in Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama. Offerings include: Bachelor of Applied Science in Administration and Supervision, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and career oriented certificate programs. The B.A.S. and B.S.N. programs open doors for career advancement and retraining for those who have completed associate degrees. Students earning A.A. degrees have a guaranteed transfer to Florida's 12 state universities. Students also transfer easily to prestigious colleges such as Cornell, Duke, Vanderbilt and Tulane. For students earning A.S. degrees and career oriented certificates, job placement is nearly 100 percent in many technical areas. The A.S. degree also transfers to Florida universities. PCC is located in Pensacola, Florida, near enough to the beach that students can enjoy college life on campus and take quick trips to enjoy the sand and surf to unwind. Spiritual life on campus is also a big part of college life, as chapel services are available. Academics at the school include, but are not limited to: * Bible Studies * Business * Education * Nursing * Humanities All financial aid at the school is appropriated through the A Beka foundation. The group offers both scholarships and loans to students who qualify. Students interested in scholarships must live in a residence hall as a first-time freshman and sign a statement of intent to attend school at PCC for all four years. As PCC is a private school, tuition costs are the same for in-state or out-of-state students. Additional fees may apply based on housing and transportation arrangements. Admissions require that students have a high school diploma or GED; current high school students can opt for a dual-enrollment program. SAT or ACT scores are required, but special permissions may allow some students to opt out.
