My colleagues are great and you have the ability to move up the ladder.
As an hourly employee, the pay is below a livable wage no matter the state you live in. We're constantly short-staffed. There's nothing wrong with supporting your teammates, however when management see's you helping in other areas, they tend to take too much advantage of that. The yearly raises are next to nothing, scheduling is all over the place. Some managers expect you to pull miracles out of thin air all while you're down multiple employees due to call-outs or no-call no-shows. Depending on your manager, they might not help out when desperately needed and if they do, they won't really understand the tasks at hand. Also, if your manager did not start off as a fellow employee, chances are that they won't fully comprehend all that you do to support the company. Overall, I believe that in order to have a dedicated and loyal team, managers and corporate need to provide a LIVABLE wage to their hourly employees. Minimum doesn't get anyone anywhere. Also, being actively involved with your employees will do wonders. Listen to their work related issues and administer a solution and be transparent. Compass Group is a multi-billion dollar international company. They would not have made it this far without the ENTIRE team-- and that definitely includes their hourly employees who are the backbone.
Although the choices are on the expensive side, full-time employees benefit from health, vision, and dental insurance. Paid vacation, sick hours, and a 401K account are pretty great. Depending on your location and manager, you will receive a free lunch once a day. Other locations take it out of your paycheck before taxes.
There aren't a lot of pros. At least in the Fairbanks, AK location. Most horrific management I've ever seen and I was a past business owner.
Toxic, gaslighting management. Being treated like we are less-than, appointing certain people as supervisors who have no business holding that title.
There were none. We didn't even make tips.
Leadership has no back bone. This location needs to be shut down.
Hire management who know how to manage. Demoting/firing several supervisors who are nothing more than glorified drug addicts with a superiority complex.
I showed up. I didn't need the job, but did it as a second supplementary job. Compass is so desperate for employees they'll hire anyone. People quit on the daily and walk off the job.
Not making tips wasn't worth it. I went to work somewhere else where I make triple an hour plus get tips and now have much better management.
Compass hires anyone and everyone because like I said, people are routinely quitting on the daily, and compass is desperate.
The day a "supervisor" tried to get in my face because she demanded I take a 30 minute break literally minutes from closing and I told her "no, that's not happening". She decided to name call me, posture violence (I would have won against this meth head anyway), tell me she's recording me (which made me laugh because she wasn't), and watching her become red and unraveled at being told no...yes, that brought me joy. I walked out and quit that same day and now have a far better side gig with triple the pay plus tips.
Exciting events where you meet new people in Portland, Oregon
Poor or no management. Unclear tasks with no system to communicate between departments. Lots of walking and looking for direction. Major favoritism and gossiping in front of working employees. Power playing and job threatening temp workers who came to help them out. No tips on big events even when using POS systems. 5 managers on shift non with any authority to do anything each points the finger at the other.
Friendly staff and temps. Free food and drinks. Sometimes you'll get to bring home flowers or a tshirt.
Steady hours and steady pay.
Too much to mention... supervisors show favoritism constantly, don't get appreciated for all my hard work, I get really lousy raises while others who've been there less time get continuous big raises, upper management never does anything about all of the things that go on within the company...
The fact that I have a job would be about it.
Good benefits, I don't work weekends (only at my location though). Free food. Weekends off.
Terrible work environment. sexual harassment, and racist comments, foul language and dirty jokes are common. Most coworkers are bad tempered and impatient, and unhappy. This is not a teamwork type environment.
Free food!
salary is good
management mishandle situations, hours are not defined, expect 10+ hours.

Horrible work life balance. Understaffed. Low associate pay

Being disposable and not truly valued unless it benefits the company!
I enjoyed the retreats and networking with other workers you normally don't get to see!!
It was able to provide a balance between school and work and not feel overwhelmed.
It felt at times that they were understaffed or that they wanted to work more hours that you were not able to.

My manager and working with the customers
Too physically demanding.
Knowing that I'm providing my customers and patients with meals that they'll enjoy.
The pay was well and the clients was pleasant.
You needed a vehicle to travel to your cases, long distance from home.
I enjoy the free lunches and the PTO.
I do not enjoy the pay as I don't feel like it is comparable to other clinical dietitian jobs in this city. In addition, the only way to "move up" or advance your pay is to get away from clinical dietetics and into management or the food service side.
I love helping others, I have been in customer service since high school.
