This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving the company's internal control environment across functions. This role partners with process owners to embed effective, sustainable controls into daily operations; leads remediation of gaps and deficiencies; and strengthens governance, risk management, and compliance practices aligned to COSO and SOX requirements. **Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:** _(Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)_ + Collaborate with process owners across the organization in various departments (Accounting, Operations, Procurement, HR, IT, etc) to design effective and efficient controls within workflows. + Assist control owners and operators in defining control objectives, control attributes and policies. + Provide training and guidance to control owners and operators across the organization. + Track deficiencies, root causes, and remediation plans. + Lead cross-functional remediation efforts and standardize corrective actions plans. + Prepare dashboards for Executive Leadership reporting on control health and remediation status. + Ensure documentation quality (process maps, narratives, RCMs, test evidence) meets audit standards. + Manage PBC listings, evidence quality, and audit-ready documentation; coordinate with external auditors. + Implement deficiency evaluation methodology (likelihood/magnitude) and aggregate deficiency assessments. + Support SOD design/monitoring and identity governance tooling. + Facilitate risk assessment workshops and translate risks into practical control activities. + Partner with IT as necessary for application, access, change-management, and interface controls. + Work with internal and external audit to develop test plans and oversee design & operating effectiveness testing. + Coordinate SOX scoping, walkthroughs, key control identification, and PBCs with external auditors. + Perform other related duties as required **Minimum Requirements** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate accounting for capital projects, fixed assets, leases, and related financial transactions. The ideal candidate demonstrates critical thinking, takes initiative in resolving asset-related issues, and thrives on structure and collaboration. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support asset tracking, project accounting, and financial reporting accuracy. **Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:** _(Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)_ + Oversee and monitor Construction in Progress (CIP), partnering with project managers and site controllers to ensure accurate cost tracking and timely capitalization + Calculate capitalized interest on qualifying assets under construction, ensuring proper treatment in accordance with company policies and GAAP + Maintain the fixed asset subledger, ensuring timely and accurate recording of acquisitions, transfers, retirements, and disposals + Perform subledger-to-GL reconciliations monthly, ensuring completeness and accuracy across cost, depreciation, retirements, transfers, and impairments + Coordinate physical asset verifications and site observation reconciliations to ensure alignment between field records and financial data + Support site controllers and corporate finance team throughout the annual budget preparation process and ongoing capital forecasting process + Perform monthly account reconciliations, including detailed depreciation expense analysis + Record monthly and quarterly entries for intangible assets, AROs, mineral rights and leases + Prepare quarterly roll forwards for PPE, accumulated depreciation, intangible assets, mineral rights, and AROs + Monitor AROs and track obligations related to mining site restoration + Maintain and reconcile lease accounting records in accordance with ASC 842 + Assist with internal and external audit requests + Support internal control testing by helping document controls, perform walkthroughs, and assess how well controls are designed and working + Contribute to ongoing process improvements, policies, and checklists for fixed asset management + Perform other related duties as required. **Minimum Requirements** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
