Assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of healthcare providers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Interviews patients, accurately takes vital signs such as manual BP, pulse rate, temperature, 02 level, weight and height, and properly records information into EMR.
Prepares exam rooms for examination of patients as well as stocking them.
Hands instruments and materials to provider as directed for certain procedures.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
Performs EKG's, urinalysis, strep test, flu test, covid test, mono test, pregnancy test, checks patients A1C, etc.
Gives injections per providers orders (intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous).
Handles portal messages from patients, refill medications, order additional labs or imaging as needed, complete prior authorizations, complete precertification for imaging, etc.
Must have effective communication skills and instruct patients and/or their family as directed by the provider.
Call patients to discuss results as directed by the provider while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Keys data into EMR to maintain office and patient records.
May be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time as needed or as directed by supervision (i.e., assist with patient check-in).
Perform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
MedicalAssistants are responsible for assisting patients with mobility and transport needs within the clinical setting. Duties include helping patients in and out of wheelchairs or exam tables, escorting or transporting patients to various areas, and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. MedicalAssistants are expected to monitor patients during transport for signs of distress, maintain the cleanliness of transport equipment, and provide emotional support when necessary.

What You'll Do
The MedicalAssistant is responsible for the performance of a combination of administrative and clinical tasks within the clinic setting, providing patient care. Works as part of the multidisciplinary team, to enhance patient's quality of life and wellbeing. This position involves preparing and organizing the necessary equipment, ensuring a sterile environment, also handling pre-procedure/injection patient education, document vital signs and advise post-procedure/injection care instructions. Attention to detail, knowledge of medical procedures/injections, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with both patients and the medical team are crucial for this position. A MedicalAssistant works closely with the providers under the direction of the Clinical Manager.
Promotes and practices Midland Medical's mission and values and follows its policies and procedures.?
Greets and rooms patients into appropriate Procedures/Injections rooms.?
Performs patient vital signs and measurement of anthropometric measures, and reviews patient chart to ensure all necessary documentation is present, current, and complete.?
Prepares patients for physical examinations and/or procedures and assists the provider accordingly.?
Prepares and administers medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injection - including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)?
Conduct tests and procedures as directed, such as EKG's, Spirometry, Eye exam, glucometer, etc.?
Assists provider with minor surgical procedures (assists providers with wound care, suture, and staple removal, etc.)?
Monitors patient flow after check-in and collaborates with clinic team members to coordinate patient care and services.?
Performs required medical procedures associated with research projects, and maintains complete and thorough documentation, as required by the principal investigator or designated staff.?
Maintains required equipment and supply logs (AED, Eye Wash, Vaccine Fridge, PPE, etc.)?

Experience & Key Responsibilities:
Assist the orthodontist with clinical procedures including braces adjustments, wire changes, and appliance placement
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before and after patient visits
Take dental X-rays and digital scans as directed (with proper certification)
Provide patient education on appliance care, oral hygiene, and appointment expectations
Monitor and document patient progress in the charting system
Support infection control and sterilization protocols
Help maintain clinical inventory and orderly operatories
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Requirements:
Previous orthodontic assisting experience preferred
Comfortable working with braces, aligners, and orthodontic tools
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Radiology/X-ray certification preferred (per state requirements)
