ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist with establishing, maintaining and implementing company-wide policies and procedures in regard to a legal compliance pertaining to import/export/domestic transactions.
Support and partner with governmental agencies including but are not limited to US Customs and Border Protection, Bureau of Industry and Security, Census, Department of State, Transportation Security Administration, US Department of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, US Fish and Wildlife Service and Department of Transportation to ensure compliance
Ensure proper documentation of compliance activities for reference purposes include evaluating and updating of existing policies and procedures including changes based on new laws or regulations.
Responsible for assisting with the implementation, utilization and maintenance of C-TPAT, ACE Portal and other similar functions and programs with collaboration of compliance team and senior management.
Responsible for corporate oversight of penalties, resolution, CF 28/CF 29 and other similar requests by governmental agencies by local compliance contacts in conjunction with other members of Compliance team.
Conduct compliance violation investigations and provide recommendations for resolution to senior management team
Collaborate as applicable within investigations and facilitate cooperation with outside parties including governmental agencies, legal counsel and insurance carriers as necessary.
Provide guidance in all aspects of compliance to employees including supporting the current ticketing system management.
Assist with the development and implementation of company-wide audit procedures to ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures in cooperation with the compliance team and local compliance contacts.
Provide regular audit result reports to senior management team regarding compliance operations, identifying potential compliance risks and recommendations for resolution.
Provide general guidance for clients regarding import and export restrictions, requirements, tariffs, etc.in connection with Customs and other government agencies.
Serve as an integral member of the CargoWise Support Team to provide troubleshooting assistance between operations and software in terms of compliance procedures.
Collaborate across the organization to develop and implement training programs to educate staff on all necessary compliance regulations and standard industry practices.
Organize seminars, communications and documentation necessary to disseminate compliance policies and procedures to employees.
Participate in conferences, meetings and other similar events as representative of the corporate compliance team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of Bachelor degree and at least 3 years compliance experience.
US Customs Brokers License, Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES)preferred.
Knowledge of applicable governmental regulations.
Experience working with various US international trade regulatory agencies including CBP, TSA, OFAC and FMC.
