The POD Specialist is responsible for authorization management of non-emergency transports. POD Specialists work with Communications, Operations, payors, and billing to ensure appropriate paperwork is obtained before or around the time of the patient's transport.
Summary / Responsibilities:
• Work with Communications to provide guidance on non-emergency transports and required paperwork and/or authorizations.
• Review non-emergency transports to identify appropriate payor and determine if an authorization is required.
• Follow established processes to request and/or obtain authorizations for non-emergency transports.
• Work with Communications to ensure adequate and appropriate levels of service are dispatched for non-emergency transports.
• Manage Authorization work bin to ensure payor requirements are met.
• Process customer complaints quickly by receiving, investigating, redirecting or, resolving the issue.
• Develop and sustain excellent working relationships with AMR professionals (e.g., Operations, Business Development, IT and Finance), as well as with the Company's clients, payors, consultants, banks and financial intermediaries and government agencies.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED required; EMT certification/licensure or medical experience preferred.
• Work with computer programs and software preferred; work with general public preferred; experience in medical industry preferred.
• General knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines related to ambulance billing preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other critical governmental regulations within one (1) month of hire date.

Provides appropriate communication to ensure involved team member(s) and leadership are kept current and informed as to response status of investigations. • Develops, maintains, and supports presentation of training programs related to environmental compliance. • Supports and coordinates processes for collection, storage and shipment of hazardous materials and waste. • Interacts with the various environmental regulatory agency representatives supporting inquiries and on-site visits required for maintenance of and compliance with respective agency regulations. • Participates as assigned with Orlando Health leadership, committees, departments, and work teams to serve as a resource contributing to the organization's understanding, consideration, and response to environmental compliance issues. • Anticipates and identifies emerging environmental issues of importance to Orlando Health; evaluates compliance options and recommends strategies to minimize impact(s) and cost(s) while optimizing effective control. • Maintains compliance with all OSHA, U.S. DOT, U.S. EPA, and Florida DEP training requirements required for the Environmental Compliance Specialist position. • Manages work assignments efficiently to ensure compliance with timelines and maintain work product accuracy. • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Maintains proficiency using computer software programs essential to efficient, accurate and professional management of position responsibilities. • Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Acts as a liaison between GTC Environmental Services and GTC Construction projects. The position requires coordination with various federal, state, and local government agencies in addition to coordination among internal engineers, designers, environmental technicians, specialists and coordinators, construction inspectors and others on specific assignments to ensure overall construction related environmental compliance. This position, with guidance, is expected to have the ability to assess construction related environmental impacts to water quality, streams, and wetlands as well as interpret state and federal environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Must be able to interpret and evaluate implementation of civil design plans with a focus on NPDES compliance.
It requires the ability and interest in becoming proficient in a wide range of corporate environmental compliance efforts such as corporate compliance program development and training as well as other environmental programs such as the National Environmental Policy Act, Section 404 permitting, and the Endangered Species Act.
