Concern that this structure insulates a BOCES from public scrutiny prompted legislation requiring the Commissioner, starting 1996, to submit an annual report to the Governor and the Legislature on BOCES finances and pupil performance.
The company merged with Ventures Healthcare of Gainesville, Inc. in June 1998, making the year an important one for company growth.
In September 1998, CCS acquired Ameris Health Systems, Inc.
In August 2000 CCS opened the Dallas alternative education program as well as Bristol Youth Academy in Liberty County, Florida.
In October 2000 the company retained McDonald Investments Inc. to assist the company with its financial resources.
The purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 was “to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
In 2015, Congress reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the statute formerly known as the No Child Left Behind Act.
