    The essential functions and activities of this position surround the title of the position. The activities necessary for our office to have a successful pedorthist program are the general essential functions of this position. Some of these functions include: • Assist physicians with the evaluation and analysis of the patient's need for pedorthic services. • Ensure that proper patient management is consistent with established practices for patient care. • Recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary. • Identify and reconcile issues/problems to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided. • Ensure that the highest standard of patient care is provided to all patients, including adequate follow-up with patients and physicians. • Review new techniques and materials to ensure widest range of flexibility and services offered. • Maintain accurate documentation to clearly define goals, issues and solutions for each patient and adhere to the requirements of the Patient Bill of Rights. • Provide administrative staff with information to conduct reimbursement activities. • Provide information to branch management to ensure proper management of inventory and materials. • Meet with physicians, case managers and other referral sources to market pedorthic services and capabilities. • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with blood borne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. QUALIFICATIONS •Effective communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized oral and written presentation and reports to patient and staff. •Ability to instruct clinical and non-clinical personnel and customers on objectives of patient care services. • Active listening, reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. • Ability to assess patient condition and advise physician on treatment options. • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships with physicians, therapists and patients. • Ability to work effectively as a team member. • Sales experience in health care services helpful. • Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills. •Thorough understanding of anatomy and medical terminology. •Thorough understanding of componentry and its suitability and reliability for specific uses. •Thorough understanding of anatomy and medical terminology. • American Board Certified (ABC) certification in pedorthics. • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois. • Two (2) to Five (5) years' experience providing pedorthic services preferred. Stay current on emerging techniques, materials, and componentry to expand service offerings and clinical flexibility.
