CAI company history timeline

1981

Computer Aid, Inc., (CAI) is a global IT services firm founded in 1981 that is currently managing active engagements with numerous Fortune 1000 companies and government agencies around the world.

1987

That changed in 1987 with the release of Pro/ENGINEER, a CAD program based on solid geometry and feature-based parametric techniques for defining parts and assemblies.

1989

NURBS, mathematical representation of freeform surfaces, appeared in 1989 -- first on Silicon Graphics workstations.

In 1989 T-FLEX and later Pro/ENGINEER introduced CADs based on parametric engines.

1991

In response to growing customer and industry requirements for value added, efficient, desktop support solutions, CAI's Desktop Services practice was founded in 1991.

1993

In 1993 CAS Berlin developed an interactive NURBS modeler for PCs, called NöRBS.

1994

The initial 1994 release of STEP made it an international standard for models, and it’s still the most used format today.
