    The Senior CAD Designer (Storage Tanks) is responsible for generating detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) for API, ASME, and UL-rated storage tanks. This role requires deep knowledge of tank fabrication standards, welding symbols per AWS, and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Familiarity with iLogic for design automation is a strong plus. Job Function: Essential Functions: Develop detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings for atmospheric and pressure-rated storage tanks. Generate precise Bills of Materials, including weld fittings, nozzles, manways, and structural components. Interpret and apply API 650/620/653, ASME Section VIII, UL-142, and UL-2085 standards in tank design. Utilize AWS D1.1 and related codes for welding details, symbols, and joint specifications. Revise drawings as needed to reflect internal review feedback, customer revisions, and contract changes. Collaborate with fabricators to resolve manufacturing queries and support production needs. Update drawings per as-built markups and maintain version control. Produce and organize drawing packages in PDF format for release. Simultaneously manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. Visit the shop floor or fabrication yard to verify field fit-ups and gather design data when necessary. Respond promptly to production or QA issues related to design or documentation. Additional Duties: Support the development of standard templates and design libraries for recurring tank types. Assist with implementation and maintenance of iLogic design rules to streamline future model generation. Participate in internal design reviews and cross-functional coordination meetings. Undertake other responsibilities as needed to support business objectives. Job Requirement: Required Skills & Experience: 5+ years of experience designing storage tanks (API, ASME, UL). Strong knowledge of AWS welding standards and interpretation of welding symbols. Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and 2D drafting. iLogic scripting or rule-based design automation is a plus. Familiarity with general construction and fabrication practices. Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight project deadlines. Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field. Certification or training in tank design standards (API/ASME/UL) is a plus. Equivalent work experience in lieu of formal education will be considered. Teamwork & Reporting: Reports to the Engineering or Detailing Manager.
