The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project - the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. The CAD Methods Drafter will support the Methods engineers and wider Engineering and Construction teams with AutoCad and Revit drafting activities.
Responsibilities:
Prepare 2D Drawings on AutoCad and 3d models in Revit: construction sequences, site installation drawings, RC detailed drawings for temporary structures, steel working platforms, formworks, shoring, scaffolding.
Perform excavation drawings and extract cut/fill quantities.
Perform quantity take-offs, preparation of Bill Of Quantities.
Control drawings of proprietary formwork systems received from external supplier and adapt or modify to suit site conditions.
Adhere to project quality plan and procedures and provide document controller with the necessary information for upload on the Document Management System.
Maintain a shared library of blocks and external references with other team members.
Regular interaction with other team members from other departments (construction team, surveyors, designers) to understand the requirements and make appropriate CAD actions.
Provide the document controller with necessary information for the drawings register and ensure latest revisions of his drawings are available through the Electronic Document Management System
Qualifications:
Required
Degree in Civil Engineering or Drafting or relevant years of experience.
Experience with AutoCad, Revit
Strong knowledge of formwork and scaffolding systems.
Experience with construction methodologies, temporary works design, structural construction works, specifically with bridges
Experience in a Contractor technical team on a large infrastructure projects
Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others is essential
Broad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles / regulations.
Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects
Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
Ability to work in multicultural environment.
Valid Driver's License.

Material selection for designed components (specifying manufacturing process, mechanical properties, etc.)
Detail all component and assembly drawings for manufacturing (tolerance, fits, dimensional analysis, GD&T, etc.)
Assist with quoting and procurement of components - put together all necessary documents required for manufacturing/assembly (bill of materials, hardware lists, budgets and costing, ROI, contract review, etc.)
Project Management - instruct outside contractors/vendors and internal personnel for timely assembly of hydraulic and mechanical designs.
Direct production personnel on proper usage of equipment and develop/instruct proper maintenance practices of equipment.
Troubleshoot complex fluid power and control systems
Reverse engineer of existing hydraulic/mechanical components - analyze the mode of failure, accurately measure the component, redesign (if necessary), and create blueprints.
Responsible for overseeing the startup of new and updated equipment.
Corporate position responsible for the hydraulic and mechanical design and reliability of equipment in all three plants (along with two joint venture plants).
Designs meet/exceed respective codes: Analysis, validation, and due diligence is performed to ensure quality of design with (first and foremost) plant and personnel safety.
Support production and technical personnel during off-shift hours.
