Surveying CAD experience preferred (surface modeling, topographic drawing production, point calculations, etc.) Experience with Revit, Three-dimensional CAD, and/or point cloud experience is a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements. NOTE: This position will work primarily in the office, preparing drawings of data collected by field staff.

The role focuses on producing high-quality survey deliverables, from data collection from field crews to analysis of the survey data and drafting of plats and exhibits. While primarily office-based, the Project Surveyor will also coordinate field crews and occasionally visit project sites. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest professional standards by applying your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Responsibilities + Draft a variety of plats and survey documents using Civil 3D, including Land Development Plats, Utility Easement Plats, ALTA/NSPS Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Various Exhibits. + Collaborate with project managers and team leaders to evaluate project scope, schedule, budget, and instructions. + Coordinate daily activities for at least one field crew and/or survey technician. + Process and verify survey data using Excel, Trimble Business Center, and other survey programs. + Conduct research on deeds, maps, and prior surveys; perform boundary analysis and determinations. + Maintain exceptional relationships with internal teams and external clients. + Organize and maintain project drawings, plot files, and related documentation. + Prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) for projects prior to initiation. + Apply boundary law principles and regulatory standards to ensure survey accuracy. Essential Skills + Strong user and experience in Civil 3D. + 3+ years of experience in land surveying, including drafting and putting together surveys. + Experience with ALTA/NSPS Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Land Development Plats, Utility Easement Plats, and Various Survey Exhibits. + Experience processing surveys using Trimble Business Center (TBC). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Survey Degree and on the path to licensure. + Field Surveying experience is a nice to have but not a requirement. Work Environment The Portage office houses a team of 12 people and primarily handles utility projects, including natural gas, pipeline, electrical transmission, and distribution. The team also works on some land development, city/municipality, and industrial projects. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Portage, IN.
