We seek a full-time, experienced Electrical CAD Designer to work in the Memphis-based business office of Logical Systems LLC (“LSI”). JOB SUMMARY
Electrical Designer utilizes electrical knowledge and design skills to develop electrical drawings including schematics, interconnections, IO drawings, loop sheets, single-line and three-line diagrams, and other design or CAD drawings to support projects in a number of industries.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Field verifies electrical drawings or other equipment drawings and mark-up to represent as-built conditions.
Develop electrical design deliverables for complete projects to produce a design package that is technically accurate, conforms to industry and client standards, constructible, and efficient. Deliverables include site layout drawings, interconnection diagrams, I/O drawings, control panel layouts, motor elementaries, loop drawings, 1-line and 3-line power drawings, network drawings, cable schedules, bill of materials, and construction scope of work documents.
Check other resource's design drawings and supplier equipment drawings
Provide on-site electrical construction support and I/O checkout support as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Current working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) with the ability to locate solutions to code questions.
Ability to identify field devices (proximity switches, photo eyes, solenoid valves, etc.) for the purpose of producing schematics.
Advanced and current working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and/or AutoCAD LT, ePLAN or MicroStation.
Advanced and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Excellent organizational, design and drafting skills.
Ability to read, understand, and review engineering drawings.
Ability to travel to client's sites as required.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access industrial equipment for field verification.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment within LSI and client resources.
Knowledge and experience with electrical equipment and installation.

Job Responsibilities:
Support Engineers in designing and documenting innovative equipment for heavy lift and transport projects across North America. Typical documentation for Research & Development projects can include:
Preliminary CAD Models and Concept Drawings
Finalized CAD Models and Fabrication Drawings
Support during fabrication
Load Testing Documentation, including Load Test Procedure Drawings and Load Test Certificates
Specification Sheets for reference by project engineers and field personnel.
Various revisions to documents as required.
Develop working knowledge of existing Barnhart heavy lift and specialty rigging equipment.
Help with basic mechanical design and structural analysis tasks.
Possess an understanding of applicable industry and company-specific drawing standards (e.g. ASME) and help to ensure designs are in accordance. Perform preliminary checks on drawings for content and format compliance before final review by an engineer.
Assist in creating organized Equipment Packages for storing equipment documentation.
Assist at troubleshooting various design problems and work with engineers to resolve them.
Develop proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor techniques including: Dynamic Blocks, Multisolid Modeling, and Frame Generator.
Assist in creating and maintaining templates and other support files for CAD software packages.
Provide technical assistance and workflow guidance to other CAD users within the company.

Job Tasks:
* Work closely with Product Management, Quality, and Manufacturing to generate, initiate and complete new products, product improvements, and cost reduction designs based on company goals, customer needs, industry/regulatory standards, quality assurance, and manufacturability.
* Manage product development timelines by creating and monitoring project timelines, maintaining NPD gateway documentation, and leading progress report-outs for upper management.
* Design and optimize mechanical door hardware components for Opening Systems. Components include: thresholds, hinges, gasketing, automatic door bottoms, astragals, power transfers, sliding and folding hardware, peripheral products, etc.
* Create and execute product inspection and test plans for FAS/FAP, alpha, beta, and compliance testing to ensure design safety, durability, and functionality. Monitor, capture, and document testing data for internal R&D lab testing, and external laboratory testing.
* Analysis of mechanical systems, including but not limited to analysis for structural, fatigue, thermal, and acoustics.
* Develop design drawing prints in accordance with applicable standards, tolerances, quality assurance, and manufacturability. Lead and oversee drawing print modifications through the ECR process and participate in peer review sessions.
* Provide technical guidance and support for internal and external customers through in person and virtual troubleshooting sessions.
* Interface with outside vendors for component selection, V&V, manufacturing, and assembly.
* Provide design related technical guidance & assistance to other engineers, production team, supply chain, and other personnel in efforts to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and ensure an uninterrupted flow of design transfer.
* Research and analyze customer design proposals, specification, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Computational Designer to join our Digital Engineering Solutions team. This individual will be a key leader within the Design Technology group, driving the firm's digital transformation in design automation, computational design strategies, and BIM technologies by providing strategic guidance, technological vision, and solution development. This group specifically utilizes visual scripting to apply computational strategies to the design process across our architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) disciplines, and specializes in BIM, CAD, and digital twin technology from a design technology perspective. This position is for a person who has demonstrated excellence in computational design capabilities, is highly experienced with AEC design technologies, and excels at framing problems, shaping & creating solutions, and championing implementation. As a senior member of the Digital Engineering Solutions team, this person will also engage in research and development and provide strategic oversight to the AEC practices at CDM Smith, engaging in new product research, testing, and the incubation of innovative ideas that arise from around the company.

Under the direction of the Design Automation Manager, the duties and responsibilities for this position include:
- Leading and overseeing projects on the cutting edge of BIM & computation, solving design and process challenges using BIM applications and computational design modeling plug-ins such as Autodesk Revit/Civil3D and Dynamo, Rhino and Grasshopper, Bentley applications and Generative Components, and other associated digital tools and code languages such as Python/C#.
- Developing and implementing advanced computational solutions to complex architecture, engineering, and environmental science problems via visual programming.
- Providing strategic direction and technical leadership to the team and across the organization.
- Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team across a global practice, building and maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships.
- Leading and driving initiatives and efforts, with your BIM, CAD, and computational design expertise.
- Staying at the forefront of the latest developments and advancements, including new and emerging technologies & best practices and new tools & software applications impacting digital design - and how they could impact CDM Smith.
