What you'll do as a Fire Alarm CAD Drafter/DesignerDesign 2D drawings, submittal and record/as-built (system drawings, bill of material, compile operating manuals, calculations etc.) for fire alarm systems under the instruction of the design manager. Morton Buildings, Inc.'s Design Services department, located in Morton, Illinois is offering a paid student internship during the summer. The internship program will provide the student with on-the-job training to develop relevant skills aligned with their current course of study.
This is a paid internship opportunity. The hourly pay rate starts at $18.

Essential Functions
As a Morton Buildings Intern in the Design Services department, you will gain experience in Construction Drafting. In addition to the opportunities outlined below, all interns are included in a collaborative team project with other departments.
Learn the basic Morton Buildings post frame building structure via AutoCAD detailing
Audit AutoCAD files to ensure all revisions are completed
Utilize the drawing generator program to create the initial AutoCAD file for each project
Interact with Sales Consultants to acquire answers needed to complete building plans
Assist with completing revisions to plans
Assist with process improvement initiatives
Participate in weekly team meetings
Other tasks as identified

What you'll do
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our firm. This position plays a key role in supporting engineering teams on transportation, municipal infrastructure, and water resource projects. The ideal candidate is skilled in CAD design, familiar with civil engineering principles, and eager to contribute to meaningful projects that improve public infrastructure and community sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare design plans and construction drawings for transportation, roadway, utility, stormwater, and water/wastewater projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
* Collaborate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to support project execution from concept through final design.
* Perform design calculations and assist in quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
* Interpret survey data, GIS data, field notes, and technical reports for use in project designs.
* Assist with preparation of permit applications and project documentation.
* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards and regulations.
* Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including municipal clients and review agencies.
* Contribute to quality assurance and quality control checks on design deliverables.
What it takes
* Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
* 5+ years of relevant experience in civil design; focus on infrastructure, transportation or water resources preferred.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; experience with MicroStation and GIS is a plus.
* Knowledge of IDOT standards and local permitting agencies is beneficial.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
