Responsibilities for Mid-level Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer:
The successful candidate shall be able to work independently with minimal supervision from a Sr. Plumbing/Fire Protection engineer for tasks as follows:
Development of Plumbing and Fire Protection Construction documents (drawings, specifications. calculations. etc.) using computer software for new and retrofit buildings/projects in the mission critical environment for review by Sr. Engineer.
Experience with design of Plumbing and Fire protection systems in mission critical facilities.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Coordinate with other internal engineering disciplines to achieve successful, functional and innovative designs for our clients.
Coordinate with other building disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications.
Perform field survey to document existing conditions and/or observation of construction activities.
Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.
Preparation of Contract Documents using Revit and AutoCAD software.
Create technical drawings, plans, and specifications for review by Sr. Engineer
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
Ensure project timelines are met, and project stays within budget
Able to travel (Light travel for project meetings/site observations).
Qualifications for Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
EIT/PE a plus
5+ years' experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems, Mission Critical design experience a plus
Strong computer skills and skilled in software typically used in plumbing/fire protection design (i,e. hydraulic calculations).
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs; Revit Experience is a must.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
Must be self-motivated and know project design steps/requirements
Excellent organization and planning skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals.

Salary Transparency Statement
At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an annual rate between $95,000 - $115,000. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running, must take a hands-on approach to their work, be flexible in their duties, and be a proven self-starter.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design custom structural test fixtures that meet customer statement of work requirements
Create fixture concepts based on requirements
Develop a design from concept through completion based on discussions with the internal engineering team and end user/customer
Interfaces with customers and the engineering team to translate design needs
Participate in and conduct initial and ongoing design reviews
Select appropriate structural material based on engineering analysis
Use Autodesk Inventor to create drawings of machined parts, weldments, schematics and top and sub-assemblies
Create drawings to commercial standards that can be used for fabrication and assembly
Prepare bills of materials that include fabricated parts, standard hardware, and applicable test instrumentation
Apply tolerances to ensure parts are produced with the desired fit
Demonstrate a basic understanding of data acquisition systems and hydraulic/pneumatic control systems.
Familiarity with various fabrication methods
Prepare fabrication plan and fixture assembly procedures
Act as the technical contact for the fabricators and assemblers during the production phase of projects
Supporting quoting efforts for Design/Fabrication as needed
Collaborate with Project Managers to status ongoing projects
Provide project engineering support during all aspects of the test program
Manage test programs. Some of the areas of testing include structural testing, armament, pressure, and windblast.
Coordinate required resources and schedule required to conduct testing
Interface with customers
Write test procedures and test reports
Travel as required within the continental US
Overtime will be required during certain periods of a project
Required Qualifications:
BSME or comparable
4+ years' experience working as a Design Engineer
Currently hold an FE certification and eligible to go for a PE
A PE licensure will eventually be required
Strong proficiency using Autodesk Inventor/ Assembly handling or equivalent software
Experience in mechanical CAD design (Autodesk Inventor), ability to perform simple design hand calculations, fixture design, and especially fixture design for testing products
Knowledge of FEM/Analysis
Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a drug test and background check
Expertise in defense, aerospace, telecom, commercial, and/or automotive product qualification requirements
Ability to read and interpret test specifications
Must be computer literate, including MS Office
