In this role, youll be responsible for optimizing designs for fabrication and production, developing detailed 2D and 3D models, and overseeing digital fabrication processesincluding CNC operations and 3D printing. Youll work closely with project leads to coordinate and streamline workflows across departments. The ideal candidate brings expertise in CAD and CAM software such as Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and more, with experience in CNC programming and fabrication planning. Responsibilities / Requirements MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THEMED FABRICATION AND/OR CONSTRUCTION. 1. CAD Modeling & Technical Drawings Serve as the primary CAD designer, creating 2D and 3D models for awarded projects. Develop fabrication-ready models from scratch based on project specifications and input from leads and managers. Ensure all CAD work aligns with manufacturing feasibility and project requirements. Oversee the organization and management of CAD files, ensuring accessibility and proper documentation. 2. Digital Fabrication & 3D Printing Manage all 3D printing operations, including modeling, file preparation, printing, post-processing, and machine maintenance. Ensure 3D prints meet quality standards and are optimized for functionality. Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of 3D printers to ensure continuous operation. 3. Fabrication Planning & Method Development Determine primary fabrication methods for each project based on discussions with managers and leads. Direct the fabrication shop technician and assistant CAD draftsman to execute fabrication strategies efficiently. Collaborate with project leads to establish efficient and cost-effective production workflows. 4. CNC & CAM Programming Run CAM operations and program toolpaths for CNC machines, including the CNC router, hot wire, and Frog Mill. Assist in CNC machine troubleshooting, setup, and operation during peak workload periods. 5. Equipment Maintenance & Oversight Ensure all digital fabrication machines (CNCs, 3D printers, and hot wire cutters) are properly maintained and running efficiently. Coordinate repairs and servicing for CNCs, 3D printers, and other digital fabrication equipment as needed. 6. Project Leadership & Team Coordination Act as the initial point of contact for all CAD-related work, ensuring all projects start with properly developed CAD files. Oversee and guide the assistant CAD draftsman and fabrication team on technical execution. Become familiar with the previous Director of Projects role to transition into key responsibilities over time. Be prepared to work overtime when necessary to ensure projects meet deadlines. 7. Software & Workflow Management Ensure all CAD, CAM, and fabrication processes are carried out using Fusion 360, with occasional use of Revit and Rhino. Maintain an organized workflow to optimize CAD-to-fabrication processes and reduce errors. Qualifications Previous experience with Solidworks, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD Advanced proficiency in Solidworks (primary software) Excellent written and verbal communication skills The ability to work well within a team environment Proven ability to lead a team of CAD draftsmen and fabrication technicians, providing guidance and support. Experience with GD&T preferred 10+ years of experience in CAD modeling, digital fabrication, and CNC machining, preferably in a themed fabrication, experiential design, or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of manufacturing/fabrication processes, materials, and fabrication feasibility. (preferably in themed fabrication) Experience with 3D printing operations, including file preparation, printing, and post-processing. Hands-on experience with CNC machining and CAM programming (CNC router, hot wire, Frog Mill) Knowledge of fabrication planning, workflow optimization, and cost-effective production strategies Ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines Additional Preferred Skills Experience with surface or character modeling Experience with 3D slicer software for 3D prints Other skillsets or familiarity associated with fabrication for themed entertainment Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer supports the development of aftermarket automotive suspension, off-road & drivetrain products. This role is responsible for creating detailed CAD models/drawings, validating designs, installing products & participating in the testing of products. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be working on brand new product lines, expanding existing product lines & finding ways to reduce cost and improve existing products. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Create detailed engineering drawings and solid models using SolidWorks software. Benchmark existing products through testing, measurements and material analysis. Perform stress analysis using SolidWorks Simulation (FEA) Work to improve existing products by analyzing underperforming parts and implementing improvements. Use QC/Measurement equipment to measure sample parts. Review Engineering drawings for accuracy of tolerances and fitment. Review & redline Engineering drawings of other Engineering personnel. Work with quality team to determine inspection and test requirements. Review test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance requirements. Update management on project progression in Wrike and during recurring meetings. Adjust priorities based on feedback. Work directly with partner companies to design/develop products and resolve technical issues. Perform market research to help identify & define new product opportunities. Analyze and resolve technical issues from manufacturers and implement changes if needed. Create clear, detailed installation and assembly instructions for technicians and end users. Manage and populate BOMs for all designed components to ensure accurate documentation. Lead and assist in the installation and/or removal of prototype suspension, steering or drivetrain products. Requirements Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with at least 5 years design experience. Education and/or experience in gear design, suspension, sheet-metal & steering design preferred. Knowledge and use of QA/QC inspection equipment, including basic measurement tools, micrometers, height gage, thread gages, dial indicators. 3D scan experience a plus. Knowledge of Mechanical drafting standards, ANSI standards & document control. 3D Solid modeling experience, and/or SolidWorks experience required. Product Development experience with a focus on automotive aftermarket products preferred. Knowledge and Personal Attributes: Strong organizational and communication skills, team orientated philosophy, and problem solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments at any given time while holding deadlines. Must be Detail-Oriented and double check all work for accuracy and completeness. Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, assembly tolerances & GD&T per ASME Y14.5. Understanding of design for manufacturing. Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams required. Extensive knowledge in Solidworks or similar 2D & 3D CAD systems. Solidworks PDM a plus. Knowledge and experience with FEA or Simulation preferred. Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and welding processes Understanding of metal production materials and heat treatment processes. Understanding of the mechanical testing (hardness, metallurgy, tensile) Experience with basic automotive hand tools and fitment testing methods. Ability to interface with customers and suppliers.
