Job Description An Electrical/Mechanical Computer Aided Drafting Coordinator works very closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and other project team members to create, modify, and maintain system drawings, site development drawings, and any other necessary drawing documentation, and is required to fulfill project deliverables. All drawings are created in 2D with AutoCAD or Visio software; no 3D or modeling is used to develop drawings. All drawings are developed through drawing templates for efficiency. All drawings shall be created in accordance with the current drafting standards to ensure consistency across all drawings. Qualified candidate will be working on multiple projects to generate, modify and develop final “As-Built” AutoCAD drawings. The candidate will need to work closely with the Engineers of Record and various project teams for the development of our system drawing packages. Position Requirements: Have specific knowledge and expertise in the following: AutoCAD 2024 or above Microsoft Visio Suite Microsoft Office Suite Programs Adobe Acrobat DC Pro Google Drive and Google Applications Must be able to learn internal standards and quality control procedures to develop drawing packages. Possess strong organizational skills and effective communications skill; both verbal and written. Collaborate with the individual(s) responsible for providing input for system drawing packages. Modify and edit drawings developed through a third party. Be able to gather, organize and interpret engineering notes and measurements to develop drawings. Distribute completed drawings to Google project spaces. AutoCAD Software Knowledge Requirements: Use drawing template files (dwt.) to develop new drawings Use, modify and develop drawing blocks and dynamic blocks Define and edit block attributes Manage layers in accordance with drawing standards Create and modify viewports as needed Create and modify drawing tables Manage text styles in accordance with drawing standards Visio Software Knowledge Requirements: Use Visio drawing template files to develop new drawings Use, modify and develop Visio drawing stencils Manage layers in accordance with drawing standards Create and modify drawing tables Manage text styles in accordance with drawing standards Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of an Associate's Degree 3-5 years experience in Computer Aided Drafting with AutoCAD 2024 or above. RESPONSIBILITIES Design and prepare electronic (CAD) working plans, charts, and/or scale drawings for complex projects from observation, measurements, sketches, and specifications Prepare layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications, and standard layouts provided by customers, consultants, and/or departmental contacts Review and manipulate electronic files received from consultants and departmental contacts Coordinate drafting work with engineers and architects Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction Provide technical guidance and direction to the drafting staff in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of CAD files Identify problems or inconsistencies in the plans, data, and specifications Consult with engineers as needed to resolve questions Procure CAD and or Revit files Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations SCOPE OF AUTHORITY Under direct supervision of Drafting Manager Frequently interacts with Engineering, Production, and Project Management CHARACTERISTICS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Minimum two (2) years drafting experience Able to efficiently read blueprints and drawings Able to create detailed electronic (CAD) working plans from data Coordinates drafting work with engineers and architects Follow established technical specifications to prepare drawings Able to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY Associate's Degree in Design, Architecture, or related field with coursework in computer-aided design (CAD) Knowledge of AutoCAD, BeamWiz, TeeWiz, and Revit preferred Minimum 2 years drafting experience WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE Typically works in an office environment Typically works inside in an open (cubicle) office environment Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm; schedule flexibility may be required to meet deadlines PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE) Safety glasses High-visibility vest Hard hat Steel-toed shoes Hearing protection PPE only required when working in the plant PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is an office position which requires sitting, standing, and walking.
