Responsibilities
Operate CNC lathes to produce precision parts
Load/run proven programs and verify tooling before production
Perform tool changes, offsets, insert changes, and routine adjustments
Make basic program edits at the control (feeds/speeds, wear offsets, minor code edits as needed)
Set up jobs (fixturing, tooling, first-piece verification) - preferred
Complete first-piece and in-process inspections (mics, calipers, indicators, gauges)
Troubleshoot issues (dimensions, tool wear, finish) and correct safely
Routine machine maintenance and maintain clean, organized work area
Work with quality inspection to meet print requirements
Qualifications
2+ years CNC lathe experience (operator)

About the Role
As
a CNC Machinist you will play a key role in the daily operation, setup, and quality assurance of machines within their designated area. This role supports both production goals and a culture of safety while upholding the core values of the company:

What You'll Do
Independently set up machines for various jobs; seek assistance from a Supervisor or Senior Machinist for advanced setups as needed.
Execute efficient, high-quality machine operation, ensuring parts meet required specifications through frequent inspections and documentation.
Proactively recommend and implement process improvements in collaboration with Engineering and Senior Machinists.
Assist in troubleshooting processes with the support of Supervisors, Engineers, and Senior Machinists to maintain optimal production flow.
Keep a comprehensive written log at each machine, creating a record of machine operations, part specifications, and setup notes accessible to other shifts or supervisors.
Perform in-process inspections of machined products, accurately documenting results, and verifying adherence to standards.
Conduct and support first-piece inspections, ensuring alignment with inspection plans and troubleshooting as needed.
Perform total productive maintenance on assigned machines, including minor repairs and troubleshooting.
Train other machinists or operators on job functions, controls, and machine operations to promote team competency and flexibility.
Maintain and promote a safe working environment, reporting potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and equipment issues promptly.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Two-year certificate in machine trades preferred
2+ years of experience in CNC machining
Previous experience working with CMM and VCMM
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to express ideas, share information, listen actively, and demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communications.
Able to read and interpret blueprints, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use hand-held measuring tools.
Basic knowledge of CMM, VCMM, and GD&T.
Promotes a sense of urgency to expedite work through area while maintaining quality standards.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Able to make effective and timely decisions.

Sets-up, operates, and verifies the quality of work on a wide variety of Router, Lathe or Mill CNC machines involving close tolerances and difficult set-ups. Performs routine or repetitive operations in a manner which will consistently meet quality requirements and production standards. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities.
SCHEDULE: 1st shift, Monday through Friday.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Monitors variations in sequence, e.g., positioning, cycle time, etc., and makes necessary corrections.
Performs repeat set-ups without supervision. May perform more complex set-ups with supervision.
Works from drawings and/or specifications with direction from the Team Leader.
Troubleshoots routine jobs without supervision and more complex jobs with supervision.
Runs production and deburrs parts as required.
Studies specifications, blueprint, drawings or sample prototypes to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts.
Select and align tooling, fixtures and attachments for machining.
Adjust machine to produce a conforming product.
Perform in-process inspection of own work while running machine.
Complete required paperwork and keep material and paperwork organized.
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. Works safely, and complies with all established safety rules and work practices.
Maintain and care for all shop tools, machines and equipment.
Conform to the company quality system as documented.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school education or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of Vo-Tech training in machine tool technology or a related area or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 5 to 7 years of Swiss machine set-up and operating experience in a job shop environment.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 40 pounds.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
SKILLS ABILITIES: Very strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
