Responsibilities
This is an 8 hour day shift position.
Supervising and mentoring other machinists in the setup, adjustment, and operations of CNC Mills and Lathes to produce precision metal parts.
Setup tools, create jaws and fixtures as needed, and load parts.
Perform part dimensions inspection and verify conformance to specifications.
Help with quoting of new parts.
Qualifications
Must have at least 10 years of experience on CNC mills.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pass a drug screen/background check.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Required Skills
Knowledge of machining nickel alloy materials is preferred.
Comprehensive machine shop experience and knowledge of machine shop machinery and practices.
Experience with on-machine probing is preferred.

Knowledge of G and M codes and editing ability preferred.

Position Summary:
Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
Essential Responsibilities:
Highly skilled in advanced setup and operation of 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machines
Loads the program into the CNC machine, selects and sets up tools, loads stock, and runs the program.
Plans machining by reading work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference plans, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Uploads programs (mills and lathes) by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Job Description
The primary function of this position is to set-up, verify, and operate CNC lathes to machine complex parts to customer requirements.
2nd Shift (1:45pm - 10:15pm)
Other responsibilities will include:
Set-up of CNC lathes including calibration of cutting tools and location of work offsets for part production.
Verification of CNC programs and, when required, operation of lathes.
Completion of all applicable paperwork (working to ISO 9000 standards).
Performance of dimensional and visual inspections for first piece and in-process manufacturing.
Cleanliness of the work area and proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent damage or loss.
Assist in training other machinists or in supervising machine operators.
Related detail work including de-burring, modification, re-work and assembly, as needed.
May require training in hazardous material handling depending on job assignment.
Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years CNC job shop experience.
Must work to close tolerances in a high volume environment.
Must be proficient with complicated blueprints and advanced job shop mathematical calculations.
Familiar with CNC programming codes and able to perform complex set-ups for prototype and production runs.
Must be able to follow written instructions and to work with no supervision.
Must be familiar with cutting tool feeds and speeds.

What will my responsibilities include?
Sets-up and operates conventional and/or up to 5 axis CNC machines. Able to review printed work order and complete manufacturing process with little to no supervision.
Determines specifications or procedures for tooling requirements, set up procedures, machine operation, work-piece dimensions or numerical control sequences using blueprints, instructions and machine knowledge.
Assists in training and mentoring employees needing assistance when necessary. Explains and demonstrates procedures and techniques to employees.
Ensures work in progress is completed in conformance to specifications. May measure dimensions of finished material using precision measuring instruments, templates or fixtures.
Assists with production issues as they arise.
Ensures needed documentation is available for set up to be completed correctly and in a timely manner. Ensures the set up flows with production.
Monitors and maintains machines during use in order to diagnose machine malfunctions, need for adjustments or repairs. May perform routine machine maintenance.
Assists in problem solving issues related to machine setting, tooling and/or specifications.
Assists with ensuring designated daily/weekly/monthly outputs are met.
Assists in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
May clean machine, tooling and parts and area surrounding machine in accordance with 5S procedures.

The CNC Machinist will set up and operate any machine tool to perform any operation within its capacity where special fixtures and holding devices are furnished or not required.
What You Will Do:
Perform complete and independent setup of various machine tools and perform any operation within the machine's capacity, working from 0.I.S., prints, tapes, sketches, oral and written instructions to determine the sequence of operations to be performed, dimensions and tolerances to be held, tools to use, method of locating, aligning, and holding work, and feeds and speeds
Make machine adjustments for efficient machining operations
Use precision measuring instruments, machines and gauges to check own work for conformance to specifications
Asrequired, pre-set and/or sharpen cutting tools
Recognize improper machine functions and take corrective action and provide information to resolve discrepancies
Deburr and break edges of own machine parts. Maintain identification of machined parts as required
Replenish coolant, change accessible filters and lubricate own machine tool as required
Remove way covers, check and report damage
**What You Have: **
Trade School Certificate, Associates Degree in Machine Technology, or High School Diploma/GED equivalent and minimum 2 years experience in setting up and operating CNC machines
Knowledge of how to set and use gauges such as calipers, bore micrometers, dial indicators, etc.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints for datum lines and tolerances
Ability to interpret GD&T
Understand and use of measuring devices
Use of advance shop math
Ability to work overtime as needed

shift (6:30am - 3:00pm) Monday - Friday at our Jet Products Facility located in Kearny Mesa.
What Does the Job Involve?
The lead reports directly to the department supervisor and receives from the supervisor on daily tasks and/or is responsible seeing through longer term projects. The Lead maintains SQIDPP boards and metrics, and acts as a general inter-departmental liaison. The Lead will act as a backup for the Supervisor. The Lead will maintain Minimum 50 percent utilization on direct labor hours and occasional overtime to achieve customer delivery requirements.
What will my responsibilities include?
Sets-up and operates conventional and/or up to 5 axis CNC machines. Able to review printed work order and complete manufacturing process with little to no supervision.
Determines specifications or procedures for tooling requirements, set up procedures, machine operation, work-piece dimensions or numerical control sequences using blueprints, instructions and machine knowledge.
Assists in training and mentoring employees needing assistance when necessary. Explains and demonstrates procedures and techniques to employees.
Ensures work in progress is completed in conformance to specifications. May measure dimensions of finished material using precision measuring instruments, templates or fixtures.
Assists with production issues as they arise.
Ensures needed documentation is available for set up to be completed correctly and in a timely manner. Ensures the set up flows with production.
Monitors and maintains machines during use in order to diagnose machine malfunctions, need for adjustments or repairs. May perform routine machine maintenance.
Assists in problem solving issues related to machine setting, tooling and/or specifications.
Assists with ensuring designated daily/weekly/monthly outputs are met.
Assists in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
May clean machine, tooling and parts and area surrounding machine in accordance with 5S procedures.
May coordinate and communicate production status between departments/shifts.
May communicate special needs or tooling exceptions to applicable departments/persons.
Assists with and updates visual presentations and performance measurements.
Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follows directions from a supervisor, interacts well with co-workers, understands and follows work rules and procedures, complies with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accepts constructive feedback and exhibits initiative and commitment.

What Key Skills and Experience Do I Need?
Ability to read basic blueprints, drawings, or templates; including dimensional, true position, and circularity call outs.
Shop mathematics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and Feeds & Speed calculations.
Use of desktop publishing software.
Ability to use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analysis.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of machines, controllers, and tools (Fanuc or Mazak 1850/1060.)
Ability to control operations of equipment and watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machine is working properly.
Ability to set up fixtures properly including clamping, centering, and indicating of fixture.
Ability to set up cutting tools and change out inserts for cutting operation.
Ability to use and understand measuring devices including calipers, micrometers, and bar gauges.
High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Vocational training a plus.
5 years of previous CNC machine set up and operation experience or equivalent experience.
4 years of experience in the aerospace manufacturing process preferred.
Previous experience in a Leadman role preferred.
