The Opportunity
Williams International has an exciting opportunity for three Machining Apprentices to join our team beginning April 2026.
Under supervision of the Manufacturing Team Leader/Mentor, the apprentice will complete a pre-apprenticeship program for a period of three months. The pre-apprentices program focuses on training in safety, basic blue-print reading, basic machining on conventional lathes and mills, measurements and parts verification.
After a successful pre-apprenticeship period, the apprentice will be registered with the Department of Labor under a CNC Machining apprenticeship program. The program will include on the job training as well as instructor led courses through our partner organization, Oakland Community College. The training will be focused on CNC lathes, CNC mills, and advanced machining.
The apprenticeship training period is for 2 years. After successful completion, the candidate will finish in an off-shift position as a permanent full-time employee.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED
* Demonstrates basic mechanical aptitude
* Previous exposure to a machining curriculum is preferred i.e. High School or Community College Machining Curriculum
* Physical lifting requirements include; ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches), capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and be able to reach above the shoulder (65 inches).

Delta Gear an Aerospace company is an AS9100 and ISO9001 registered facility which manufactures Gear Products, Prototype/ Production, and Transmission Builds. In addition, we provide contract gear and CMM inspection services. We are also a NADCAP approved non-destructive testing facility and currently provide Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Nital Etch. Openings on both 1st and 2nd Shift 1st Shift Hours: Monday - Friday from 6:00an - 2:30pm (1-2 hours daily overtime and some weekends) 2nd Shift Hours: Monday - Friday from 4:00pm - 12:30am (1-2 hours daily overtime and some weekends) Responsibilities:
Set up and operate CNC OD/ID grinding equipment with minimal supervision.
Review and adhere to routers, sketches, set-up sheets, machining instructions to meet specific operation specifications including tool requirements, wheel grades, dressing frequency, speeds and feeds.
Maintain proper documentation for SPC data collection.
Inspect work using a variety of measurement tools such as micrometers, bore gages indicators and amps.
Responsible for maintaining production cycle times.
Assist in determining tooling & fixturing needs as required.
Responsible for daily maintenance checks to ensure optimal machine operation.
Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma or GED
Complete understanding of GD&T.
Ability to program CNC equipment. (Studer programming preferred)
Ability to evaluate quality and make machine adjustments as needed to maintain product conformance to sketches.
Experience grinding diameters and linear tolerances between .0005"-.00005."
Good oral communicator including understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
Work Environment:
Must have ability to lift 25-40 lbs
