The Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist - Horizontal Mill Operator you will work at the Erlanger, KY Service Center to service and manufacture large scale, power generation equipment along with their subassemblies by following blueprints and specific work instructions.
This is an onsite position only available at our Erlanger, KY Service Center. The typical work schedule is Monday to Thursday, with overtime work as optional. Available shift is 2:30PM to 1:00AM.

Your Role
Work in a shop environment safely with zero accidents and/or injuries
Set-up and operate CNC Horizontal Mills
Read CNC programs, familiar with G & M codes
Make edits to CNC programs to maximize efficiency and reduce error
Read and interpret Engineered Blue Print dwgs
Understand and apply geometric tolerances
Set up and safely use various inspection tools and gages (i.e. inner diameter (I/D) & outer diameter (O/D) Mics, calipers, Pi-tape, bore gages, Tri-mics, thread gages, etc...)
Machine to required tolerances of .0005” - .005”
Determine optimal machining feeds and speeds and tool selections
Work effectively with team to ensure successful delivery to customer
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED
Minimum 5 years CNC Machining Experience preferred
Desired Characteristics
Experience with G&M code is required.
Experience with horizontal milling required. Vertical milling is a plus.
Ability to follow all safety rules and wear all PPE as required.
Experience with Fanuc Controls
Proven ability to use shop math, including trigonometry and geometry.
Ability to follow work rules, carry out instructions either written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

The pay range for this position is $29 to $40 USD per hour. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.

This position description is for **Level 4 CNC Machinist** within the Large Power Systems Division located in our Lafayette, IN facility.
Candidates must have a strong background with experience in boring milling, drilling and reaming. Must have knowledge of CNC programs and be able to make offset adjustments as required.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:**
+ Responsible for production, quality, housekeeping and other related duties associated with the operation and set up of CNC and NC controlled machines, transport material, audit, operate wash tanks and operate some manual operations.
+ Interpret CNC programs Job Instruction Sheet, CMM data, Gageit (gage tracking) and accountable for processes by monitoring Infinity.
+ At times may be required to work overtime to support the manufacturing requirements.
+ Must have the ability to trouble shoot and solve problems dealing with machine, tooling, and program malfunction and solve everyday problems.
+ Must be able to manage time and work well in a team environment.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment: multi-axis CNC machining experience, ability to program CNC machines with Fanuc, Siemens or other controllers.
+ Strong working knowledge of machining principles; basic SPC, blueprint reading; understanding of geometric tolerances; ability to interpret CMM reports; quality data; and work experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
+ Must pass CNC skills assessment in order to win position
+ Required to stay in section for 12 months except for a promotion or nights to days move
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.

Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut.
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Confer with production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Verify conformance of finished product to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools.
Observe all 1st article, in process and final inspection requirements.

Environment:
Work is primarily performed in a machine shop setting, with exposure to noise, coolants, and other machine operation elements.
Physical Demands:
Standing for extended periods.

Ability to push/pull/lift and move objects up to 75 lbs.
Manual handling of parts and materials is required.
Work Schedule
Days: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, or alternate schedules as needed and or designated.
Break Periods for current schedule:
Morning: 9:30 AM to 9:40 AM
Noon: 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM
Afternoon: 3:00 PM to 3:10 PM
Overtime: May be required based on production demands, typically scheduled on Fridays or as determined by the Shop Supervisor.

Job Description
Position Summary & Objective
Set-up and operate CNC Mill to produce precision parts and instruments. Plans CNC program to control contour-path machining of parts on automatic machine tools.
Essential Functions Performed by the Position
* Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and other written instructions.
* Requires knowledge of computers, electronics, computer numerical controls, basics of CNC programming, and computer-aided manufacturing.
* Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of parts to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates according to knowledge of machine shop processes, part specifications, and machine capabilities.
* Set-up and operate CNC mills.
* Set-up parts to be machined with a wide range of size and configuration in the most efficient manner of processing.
* Machine parts to prints per specified tolerances.
* Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
* Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequences of operations required to machine parts.
* Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards using in-process inspection tools and devices.
* Work with engineers to produce quality parts to engineered specifications.
* Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide set-up and operation of machine.
* Writes program of machine instructions to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
* Compares computer printout with original program sheet to assure accuracy of machine instructions.
* Revises programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
* Observes operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.
* Fills out quality and inspection paperwork.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Five years' experience in operating CNC mills.
* Blueprint reading a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Possess the physical strength and ability to properly handle tooling, and to safely set-up large work pieces.
* Must own tools of the trade, and the ability to use them effectively.
* Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
* Ability to meet production requirements as specified.
* Apply shop math with the understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensioning.
* Ability to work with engineers and inspectors to produce quality parts to customer's specifications.
* Strong math aptitude.
* Ability to use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, and other gauges).
* Ability to use a feed and speed chart or a calculator.
* Understanding of metal properties and appropriate cutting tools, appropriate feed rates, speeds, and depth of cuts.
* Ability to program and operate CNC controls.
* Ability to machine parts to specific tolerances.
* Ability to verbally communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineers.
* Able to work with coolant, solvents, and grease.

* 6:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Thursday
