JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for operating one or more CNC 5-Axis grinders and turning lathes in the production of high-precision small parts and cutting instruments. Included in this role is the setting up the machines, the creation of part profiles and shapes, the placement of specific features, and the cutting or sharpening of instrument teeth meeting final specifications. This position may include working mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends according to business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reads blueprints and job orders for determining product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used • • Sets up and operates precision CNC machines to create products meeting required dimensions • Inspects and measures parts created to ensure specifications are achieved • Maintains job routing information and completes sign-offs as required • Performs other related production tasks during available time Performs routine maintenance, lubrication and replacement of worn parts on machines in coordination with maintenance personnel • • Informs the subsequent shift operator of the production status of the current shift • Keeps work area clean and free of oil and other residue • Other tasks as assigned by the Manager

Maintain quality standards for production parts according to written quality procedures and practices.
Maintains accurate parts counts and data integrity by clocking in and out properly on data computer collection system.
Marks and/or tags identifying material on stock items and prepares necessary paperwork for proper routing of materials.
Conducts minor repairs and maintenance to cutting tools during production process.
Follow and adhere to company safety polices, procedures and practices. Maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, lubricating airborne chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; and talk or hear. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
One-year experience with a 3-axis or 4-axis CNC controlled mill. Able to read and edit CNC programs.
Able to read, use and/or interpret blueprints, micrometers, dial indicators, gauges and vernier calipers to check and maintaining work quality
Flexible team member with strong communication skills
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
High school diploma or (GED) and one year related experience or a combination of education and experience. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Obtains lift operator license for motorized pallet jack and forklift.
Other duties may be assigned.
