POSITION SUMMARY: The Machinist is responsible for leading the Machine Shop which includes writing CNC programs, training machine operators and setting up and running CNC and manual machines. Requirements: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Write CNC programs and performs run tests for functionality. · Creates setup instructions and other production documentation for CNC machines. · Work to improves existing programs. · Setup and operate multiple CNC milling machines and lathes. · Performs routine maintenance on machines, including preventive maintenance. · Analyze engineering designs and drawings for in-house manufacturability. · Trains CNC operators on CNC programs and blueprint readings. · Set up fixturing, tooling and work offsets. · Sets up and operates manual machine shop equipment (lathe, milling machines, and drill/tap machines. · Check finished parts with go or no-go gauges. · Checks and maintains coolant and lubrication levels for machining operations. · Clean and maintain work areas. · Other duties as assigned. The CNC Machinist II will operate and perform simple setups on CNC equipment (i.e., Mills, Lathes, Swiss, EDM, Mill/Turn) to manufacture medical components from raw materials. Responsibilities Sets up machines to run correctly and consistently. Operates at least 2 machines effectively. Interpret blueprints, including GD&T. Solve machining issues common in a machining environment. Inspect product per the inspection plans. Deburr parts, if needed. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee daily activity on CNC machines. CNC programming projects require that you identify various machining operations required to manufacture the finished job in a timely manner, determine the sequence in which the machine operations have to be carried out and the amount of material to be removed in each step of the sequence. Calculate the time required to manufacture to finish the project. Communicate with direct management and tooling personnel to develop production and design standards within tooling group Review tooling project schedule based on production planning schedules, engineering specifications, orders and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities for the CNC section with the Tooling group. Draft and design layout of molds, components, equipment, materials and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools and computer. CAD/CAM software Programming CNC equipment tool paths and tool changes using Master Cam and Solid Works software Re-design current mold components to improve their efficiency and longevity Re-design current final molded products as part of the product development process. Perform dimensional reverse engineering projects to create electronic data bases Train peers on basic CNC operation Create CNC files for new components and keep them updated for future reference. WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION: Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat and occasional vibration Noise level is usually very loud and requires hearing PPE.

The CNC Machinist I will operate and perform simple setups on CNC equipment (i.e. Mills, Lathes, Swiss, EDM, Mill/Turn) to manufacture medical components from raw materials. Responsibilities Operates machines. Will be required to run more than 1 machine at a time. Interpret blueprints, including GD&T. Solve basic machining issues common in a machining environment. Inspect product per the inspection plan. Deburr parts, if needed. Inspect cutting tools for sharpness and tool life. Report damaged or spent tooling to Supervisor or machine shop manager for repair/replace. Report any non-conforming parts to Supervisor. Closely monitor machine operation, detect malfunctions or out of tolerance features, make any necessary adjustments. Maintain machining area for cleanliness and minor preventive maintenance (i.e., Coolant levels). Participate in ongoing process improvements. Record production through Job Boss system. Check to ensure all documentation (routers, inspection sheets, scrap tickets, etc.) is filled in correctly and completely following Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Take pride in your workmanship and make it your goal to produce a quality product every time. Support the EMS Quality Policy and Quality Objectives. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements A minimum of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus Machining Certification with 1+ years of CNC experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Have at least a general knowledge of machining techniques on the equipment assigned. Be familiar with material types and general properties of materials related to assignments. Must have a working knowledge of measuring equipment including mics, calipers, comparators, and indicators. Be very familiar with drawing terms and be able to interpret feature requirements. Be able to read and understand the Router. Understand the Data Collection System. Have an understanding of relevant Safety requirements. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language.
