Job Description
The CNC Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment - including Haas mills, lathes, and CNC Swiss-type machines - to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This is a hands-on programming and machining role, requiring the ability to take parts from print to finished product.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently program, set up, and operate Haas CNC mills, lathes, and CNC Swiss-type lathes.
Use SolidWorks and SolidCAM to create CNC programs, toolpaths, and machining strategies.
Input, edit, and optimize G-code/M-code directly at the terminal or machine as needed.
Select and install tooling, fixtures, and work holding devices.
Perform first article inspections and verify part dimensions using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM if applicable).
Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues related to tooling, speeds/feeds, and part quality.
Perform routine maintenance on machines and keep work area clean and organized.
Collaborate with engineers and quality inspectors to improve processes and resolve issues.
Maintain accurate documentation of setups, programs, and production runs.
Follow safety protocols and shop procedures.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
High School diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational training preferred).
Must be able to independently program CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss-type machines
Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidCAM for part modeling and CNC programming.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming fundamentals, toolpath strategies, and machine controls (Haas preferred).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining symbols.
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments.
Strong troubleshooting skills, problem-solving ability, and mechanical aptitude.
EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of CNC machining experience in an AS9100 or ISO9001 environment.
Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be independently mobile while performing job duties.
Regularly required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workers.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Set up and operate CNC machines (lathe/mill) in order to meet daily production and quality requirements.
Follow company quality control standards to include in-process inspection and documentation.
Must model safe behaviors.

Education:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Experience:
Must have at least five years of current CNC lathe setup experience.
Formal CNC training experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to interpret blueprints, setup machines, edit offsets within programs, and perform tool offset adjustments as required to machine specialty bearings.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machines.
Skilled to perform inspections of dimensions machined, including threads, inner diameters, outer diameters, lengths, widths, and undercuts/grooves.
Skilled to inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret engineering prints.
Ability to make decisions, communicate effectively, and work well with others in a team environment.
Must be a quick learner.
Ability to give, receive, and follow written and verbal instructions in English and communicate job related information to others.
Physical & Environmental Factors:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within the office and manufacturing areas.
The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate or loud.
The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or to hear.
The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Computer numerical controller machinist job in Santa Fe Springs, CA
As a Manual Machinist you will be responsible for operating several manual Machines in a shop environment. The machines that will be utilized are: Conventional and Manual Lathe, Broach Machine, and Drills.
Be trained on the assigned work center
Use proper fixturing and tooling to set up and complete each job
Ensure machines are maintained on a daily level
Communicate with lead for jobs assigned each day/week
Provide feedback on anything pertaining to getting the job completed safely and efficiently
Ensure proper document control when working on jobs
Follow verbal instructions
Selects appropriate machine and setting for a given task
Promote and practice Quality Awareness and Quality Culture within the Machine Department
Qualifications and Skills
Understand how to read Blueprints and general GD&T (General Dimensioning and tolerancing)
Knowledge of how to operate Manual Machinery I.E. (Lathe, Knee-mill, Radial Drill, Broach Machine)
Use of practical measuring tools (Calipers, Scales, Micrometers)
Able to lift up to 50lbs.
Able to stand for 8 hours a day
Basic understanding of machine maintenance and lubricants used.
Experience machining parts with large swing diameters on conventional Lathes up to 135"
Experience with Vernier Calipers up to 48"in length.
Experience in Pump Manufacturing Industry (Highly desirable)
Minimum 2-3 years' experience.
