What You'll Be Doing:
Program CNC mills and lathes using Mastercam or directly at the machine
Lead complex setups and machine changeovers for precision parts

Train operators on manufacturing steps after first-article approval
Build fixtures and tooling from prints - or design them on the fly when needed
Use precision inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges) to ensure part quality
Troubleshoot production issues, adjust offsets, and select optimal tooling and processes
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
Edit programs, make process improvements, and contribute to quoting or R&D projects when needed
What You Bring:
15+ years of hands-on experience in a machining environment
Expertise in both CNC and manual mill/lathe operations
Deep understanding of G & M codes, GD&T, and shop math
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM output
Strong mechanical instincts and problem-solving skills
Experience mentoring and instructing other machinists/operators
Collaborative mindset and solid communication skills
Nice to Have:
Prototype experience or exposure to one-off parts
Familiarity with light machine maintenance and repair

What You'll Do

BestLogic Staffing is currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Milling Machinist with 5-Axis experience on behalf of one of our manufacturing clients. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist who can independently set up, operate, and adjust CNC machining centers while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and productivity.
The successful candidate will work with minimal supervision, interpret complex blueprints, select appropriate tooling, and ensure precision machining of components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including 5-Axis CNC machining centers
Perform machine adjustments and troubleshoot CNC controllers, tooling, and machining processes
Read, interpret, and work from detailed blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices
Set and optimize feeds, speeds, offsets, and tool paths to ensure quality and efficiency
Perform in-process and final inspection of machined parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements per print specifications
Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production schedules
Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to machining efficiency and quality
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including machines, tools, and shop floor
Monitor tool wear and re-order tooling as needed to prevent production downtime
Follow all company safety policies and quality standards
Qualifications & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
2-3 years of hands-on experience in CNC 5-Axis milling setup and operation
Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles and milling processes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications
Experience using precision inspection tools for dimensional verification
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned machines and jobs
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with machining operations

Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
Machine parts and fixtures to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.

Program computers and electronic instruments such as numericallycontrolled machine tools.
Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
Establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products, using a variety of metalworking machines.
Evaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance.
Supports 5S by cleaning machines, tooling, parts and all associated work areas, using solvents or solutions and rags
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 2 years' experience
Hands on and self-directed.
Able to function in an environment requiring day-to-day involvement in details, changes, etc.
Strong math skills, able to read blueprints, drawings, and engineering information.
Strong commitment to detail and organizational skills.
Team Player
Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing
