The Opportunity
The CNC Machinist will have responsibility for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerizednumericalcontrol (CNC) and/or manual machines in cell location 8544 (Small Machining). The Machinist will also ensure that machines are properly tooled and may be required to make recommendations to modify programs as appropriate.
Additionally, the CNC Machinist will:
1. Set-up and operation of miscellaneous CNC and/or manual machines.
2. Machine and/or tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
3. Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
4. Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances/specifications.
5. Perform inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure that parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications. Visually inspects parts to ensure they are free of burrs or damaged surfaces.
6. Provide input and recommendations for selecting, installing, and adjusting CNC and manual machine cutting tools to ensure they are consistent with type and size of material being machined.
7. Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements.
8. Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensure that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.
9. Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.
10. Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
11. Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards.
12. Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell.
13. Adhere to all safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications
High School or GED and a minimum of 2 years of machining experience. Reads, understands and correctly interprets blueprints, planning and manufacturing specifications. Demonstrated working knowledge of machining and/or testing related mathematical concepts. Has basic knowledge of inspection requirements and techniques. Rough burrs machined parts. May train, provide guidance and assist in developing lower skill level team members.
* Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
(Note - must use a lift assist or assistance from other individual(s) when lifting in excess of 50 lbs.)
Must be capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 lbs.
Must have grip strength of at least 50 lbs.

Job Purpose

Completion of a Machine Tool Technology degree program or a Technical School Certificate in Machining or an equivalent number of years of machining experience is preferred.
Candidates that have completed the first year of a 2-year Machine Tool Technology program may be considered for employment contingent on the successful completion of the degree, certificate, or program.
Note: A completed 2-year degree in machining or machine technology is required to be promoted to the next level (transcript is required) along with required time in grade and completed promotional checklist.

As a CNC Machinist at RAM, you'll bring your expertise to a high-precision, high-impact environment where quality and craftsmanship matter. This is a hands-on, second-shift role (Monday-Thursday, with Fridays off!) ideal for experienced machinists with 5+ years of CNC machining experience. Duties and Responsibilities
Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines.
Measure and examine completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
Follow prepared instructions outlining methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
Perform minor preventive maintenance.
Position and fasten workpieces.
Program computers such as numericallycontrolled machine tools.
Set controls to regulate machining.
Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
Confer with numericalcontrol programmers to check and ensure that new programs will function properly, and that output will meet specifications.
Recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Requirements
5+ years of applicable work experience is required
