Ensure that all equipment is maintained and run to the high levels of efficiency and quality stipulated maintaining tolerances and work specifications.
Able to measure all quality parameters of desired components and assemblies and determine corrective action where appropriate to the processes concerned.
Able to perform all inventory related and transactions and has the ability to move all materials, (raw material, work in process, finished goods) to ensure continuous operations.
Assists, trains and develops new operators.
Requirements:
Must have successfully completed an approved training program as to setting up and operating all equipment related to the complete fabrication and/or assembly for one or more manufacturing and/or shipping departments.
Must be able to measure and inspect all fabricated and assembled product. Use of advanced trades' mathematics, including trigonometry together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, data bases, formulas; all varieties of precision measuring instruments and all varieties of production related equipment.
Production related equipment includes but not limited to CNC equipment, multi-machine work stations, computers and specific technical software applications involving a thorough technical-skills knowledge (i.e. CNC programming), plus the application of basic theory.
Prior experience equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft, or occupation; or equivalent to a 2-year technical college education or Journeymen designation.
Self-motivated to take ownership of work schedule and quality.
Willing to accept change to support being a Fast, Flexible, Efficient section facility.
Active team member willing to work with other team members and departments to keep process moving and improving.

Summary
The Specialized Machinist will be responsible for:
Work under the direction of the Team Leader, and with limited supervision, perform diversified and specialized machining operations specifying exacting tolerances and finish specifications. Employ 5S and Lean Manufacturing skills in every day work practices.
Set up machining sequences. Operate, edit and adjust a variety of machine tools and operations. Perform machining operations on a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) and manual machines. Edit and check programming of machines. Determine operational or tooling sequence. Select feeds, speeds and tooling. Hold close and exacting tolerances.
Perform general shop work such as deburring, machine repair and maintenance duties. Areas of operational specialization include model making, hobbing and burnish set ups (to perform gear cutting). Set up and run tool cutter grinding. Produce models to engineering specification. Areas or machine specialization include l-16 screw machine, conventional screw machine, and hobbing machines.
Use blueprints, schematics, written and verbal directions, shop policies and quality standards to obtain required contours, dimensions, and finish specifications. Calibrate and modify operational sequences to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts.
Use safety standards as a guideline to perform machine maintenance and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Inspect own work using functional gages and inspection equipment in order to maintain maximum quality. Inspect production work as often as necessary in order to maintain maximum quality standards and to prevent scrap or minimal rework. Must be OAP (Operator Acceptance Program) certified to inspect own work using various hand tools and measuring instruments in order to maximize quality. Assist in training new employees. What we are searching for:
· Ability to Setup and operate a CNC Lathe, specifically Nakamura or similar machines.
· Have the capability of reading prints and work instructions and applying what you’ve read to the job at hand.
· Have experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, brass, or ledloy materials.
· Ability to troubleshoot on your own as well as work with a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description - other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.
Perform final inspection on parts when lots are completed, record lot and charge number into logbooks to ensure traceability, and position into parts baskets in proper order on the regular carts.
Determine feed length and shut height of ram, and adjust miss-feed and stock thickness indicators, air or mechanical knock-out devices where ranging from 100 to 200 tons, for the purpose of blanking and piercing timing chain side plates, from coil and/or bar stock.
Possess basic knowledge and understanding of production tooling, which consists of multiple cavity steel and carbide dyes, understanding of related process equipment such as feeds, scrap cutters, stock straighteners, etc.
Obtain raw materials from storage location, utilizing FIFO, and move to temporary storage area next to machine.
Report all work performed on labor reporting forms as required.
Work from drawings, route sheets and instructions, select proper tooling, equipment and materials for the job, and remove or insert any removable sections as necessitated by individual job requirements.
Make necessary adjustments of press feeds. Adjust safety devices furnished as a part of the operation.
Secure necessary production gauges and checking devices for the specific job requirements.
Determine when dyes need sharpening, or repair.
Diagnose and remedy malfunctions to tools and equipment.
Perform first piece inspection and begin production run on parts per work and inspection standards.
Follow inspection standards (SPC) and perform all the required steps in the process inspection.
Record tool life, heat, and coil numbers, and other tractability information into control books. Store tooling and accessories into designated areas.
Provide for minor maintenance of equipment and preventative maintenance as specified in PM sheets.
Requires sufficient knowledge of mechanisms and tooling to maintain close tolerance on a variety of similar operations and work specifications.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow standard safety regulations.
Detect faulty operation or defective material and report these and other unusual conditions to group leader or supervisor.
Perform other similar and associated duties as required or directed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
2 -5 years' experience running multiple machines, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance.

Must have good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
