Essential Functions: A Computer Operator III analyzes existing or proposed systems, designs data processing programs and related procedures to process data, and uses a multi-step process (i.e., system investigation, analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance) to bring new or changed systems to meet customer requirements. The employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties: Comply with computer operation policy, standards, and procedures Ensure general guidelines and technical standards are being met Interpret program requirements, audit auxiliary peripheral units to ascertain correctness of input data, and check condition and arrangement of tapes Coordinate inputs/data in support of meeting contractual requirements Compile programs for programmers Write minor operational programs Organize computer input and output of data Investigate and locate source of non-standard irregularities Analyze and recover program operations in complex error situations Provide support to investigate and troubleshoot problems in operational hardware and software and develop solutions for issues discovered Provide technical support to computer users and organize sequence of events in computer operation cycle Provide general maintenance and installation support of computer equipment Establish and maintain a filing system of databases for tracking and inventory of database information Provide direct customer interface to identify and support database requirements Design modifications to current interface to identify and support database requirements Develop, process, and submit data reports for technical presentations and meetings Other duties as assigned or required Other Responsibilities: Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
