Essential Job Responsibilities * Operate and maintain the Navy Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) and associated equipment including Radar Acquisition Display System (RADS), Joint Debriefing Subsystem (JDS), Individual Combat Aircrew Display System (ICADS), and the Radio Interface Computer (RIC). * Receive pre-mission data from participating squadrons and input into Mission Line Up computer prior to scheduled mission. Interacts with Mission Coordinator and squadron operations personnel when data is not received in a timely manner. Verifies all information received from the squadron is correct and is accurately input into the mission display system. Ensures all aircraft are tracking properly during the mission. Works with voice communications technicians to ensure good radio transmit and receive. * Assist Air Intercept Controllers and Range Training Officers with operating mission system computers as needed. Documents aircraft tracking anomalies and reports them to the appropriate parties using the Pod Gripe Process. Sets up mission replays for the aircrew to use for debriefing. * Enter mission data into Range Information Management System (RIMS). Knowledgeable with the proper handling a classified material. Position Description This position supports and develops the College Fund TCU Computer Science Initiative. The priority of the College Fund Computer Science Initiative is to facilitate institutional capacity building of TCUs in Computer Science education opportunities, and as a result seeks to increase the number of place-based Computer Science programs at TCUs that are grounded in the mission and vision of their institutions. The development of these programs includes fostering innovative, community centered approaches to integrating, enhancing, and developing curricula across the broad range of computer science topics and concepts with a focus on solving challenges faced by tribal nation communities. The Computer Science Specialist provides technical assistance and expertise in computer science content and topics, faculty development, course development and pedagogy, and creation of services that support student and community engagement in computer science education. The Computer Science Specialist will support the TCU Computer Science Program Director in successful implementation of all aspects of computer science programming and outreach at participating TCUs. This position will work directly with TCU administration, staff, faculty, students, and other external constituents such as donors and contractors, community members, and fellow College Fund employees. Close collaboration and proactive communication with other members of the Programs, Research and Evaluation, Student Success Services, and Resource Development departments are essential for overall program success. The Computer Science Specialist contributes to the College Fund strategic and annual plan. Evolution and refinement of the computer science initiative through Programs team alignment and broader organizational focus is imperative to success. Job Objectives and Responsibilities Develops educational content and provides technical assistance on the integration of Computer Science content and topics, and systems-level applications of computer science to support TCUs in the revision, modification, and development of academic programming drawing upon innovative knowledge in the fields of computer science, artificial intelligence, computer engineering, information sciences, web development, programming, etc. to ensure success. Creates lessons, modules, courses, and/or activities on computer science topics through the lens of addressing challenges facing tribal nation communities that can be used and/or adapted by TCU's in their computer science academic programs. Designs creative approaches to engage TCUs in increasing computer science programming throughout various degree pathways and courses. Increases TCUs' knowledge capacity in computer science through outreach and dissemination. Develops strategies for continued learning and visibility through a Community of Practice to identify opportunities for shared learning/teaching to inform this work. Identifies national and other Native conferences and organizations that target computer science, computer engineering, information sciences, biotechnology, design, environmental sciences, natural science, and related fields of study. Supports and strengthens TCU relationships through on-line communication, conference calls and site visits. Draws upon professional networks and partnerships to foster collaboration and development of sustainable partnerships in support of TCU projects/programs. Support College Fund Strategic Goals and Objectives Collaborate with other teams within the College Fund to accomplish organizational goals. Actively participate in department level and organizational strategic and annual planning. Engage in Programs and College Fund discussions related to program impact and provides summarized/analyzed project information. Support sharing of successful programming between the College Fund and the TCUs and among the TCUs themselves. Create and gather monthly and quarterly summaries of the TCU Computer Science Initiative for reporting to Board and senior leadership. Present College Fund programming and outcomes at conferences and other venues. Share student stories and program successes to support the College Fund's general awareness and fundraising efforts. Support related programming managed by the programs department when needed. Extensive travel (plane and car) is expected for conducting successful TCU grant implementation, site visits, and selected conferences. Administer other duties as assigned.
