Monitors operations of data center systems and assists with coordinating maintenance activities for data center equipment and infrastructure including environmental systems, UPS systems, generators, power distribution and cabling. Assists with the installation and replacement of data center equipment including network hardware, servers, storage arrays, and other data center system components as directed. Ensures secure handling, proper logging, and appropriate data destruction for physical media such as removable storage devices, tape backups, and disk drives. Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison for third-party vendors, technicians, and University and Health system personnel needing physical access to data center equipment, including escorting them and assisting with power and cabling. Conducts routine system support including software updates and security patches. Operates peripheral equipment including tape drives, printers, diagnostic tools, etc. Remains on 24-hour call; stays on campus or returns to campus as specified to ensure comprehensive coverage during university closures, such as weather events. Moves equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. and heavier equipment with assistance. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. Related duties as required. Must be able to follow instructions PRIMARY JOB TASKS: Assist operators with lines Operate per the applicable procedures. Change out reels of cable while maintaining line function. Utilize tagging system to label reels Make minor adjustments and repairs to machines. Properly utilize production order to meet all customer requirements. Operate take up and assist line operator with running the machine. This position may require a Southwire forklift license. Perform all other duties as assigned. CROSS TRAINING: Will be required to cross-train on equipment within your identified workgroup at your facility Once trained in more complex jobs, may be required to fill the position in the event of absence or vacancy Will be required to rotate on a set frequency within your workgroup to maintain skill proficiency QUALITY: Do not release products until all quality checks have been passed Perform quality checks, as outlined in the process procedures for the machine, and minor maintenance when necessary. Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor or quality manager Use the company's ISO Quality System documentation to help guide all daily quality activities.
