Our shelter in Bullhead City provides day resources as well as temporary shelter for male, female, veterans, and families. Clients are offered hot meals, shower facilities, a wellness clinic, laundry area, hygiene supplies and access to computers to aid in obtaining work. We also offer seasonal amenities for those that need them and are not willing or unable to stay in our shelter. The shelter is staffed with compassionate employees and volunteers who strive to walk alongside those experiencing homelessness on their path to permanently improve their lives. JOB SUMMARY: The House Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring smooth and compliant operations of the 24/7 Center for Help and Hope Emergency Shelter, including on-site activities, residents' behavior, safety and well-being and adherence to policies. This position will support our shelter from 12am to 8am, 3rd shift. JOB DUTIES: Follow established procedures to assist in check-in and check-out process, coordinating bed assignments, and monitoring compliance with house rules. Conduct regular client living area inspections. Inspect cleanliness of the living spaces and inform clients of deficiencies and provide opportunities for life skills education. Ensure compliance with the personal belongings policy and with extermination of the facility. Document pertinent shift information and observations. Conduct nightly bed check according to curfew regulations to ensure that all residents are accounted for. Does walk around and sets eyes on each visitor every 30 minutes. Compile data and produce reports, as needed, for analysis, billing, program monitoring and compliance. Mediate conflicts and resolve issues as they arise. Ensure client compliance with house rules and guidelines. Provide crisis intervention and management as needed. Comply with and enforce established policies and procedures. Follow established procedures in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing frequently used areas, including, common and computer areas, sleeping quarters and restroom/ shower facilities. Document activities on posted cleaning schedule. Provide Program Supervisor with update each morning. Enters HMIS data after ‘lights out”. Collaborate with other staff to assess and address client service needs. Build a trusting relationship and gain knowledge of the client's background and circumstances through frequent and informal conversation. Encourage clients to take ownership of case plans and goals. Promote and support client-peer counseling efforts. Enter relevant information in HMIS system, department logs, and emails on a timely basis. Attends and maintains training as required by agency. Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education /Background: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent plus one or more years of experience working with homeless populations, substance abuse, mental health. Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field plus one-year experience preferred. Peer Certification preferred. Job Knowledge: Current knowledge of best practices for working with people experiencing chronic homelessness, veterans, mental health issues and/or substance abuse. Ability to work with individuals from a diverse background. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook). Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Must be able to visually and auditory assess and interact with clients to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holiday hours as needed. May lift up to 25 pounds. Other requirements: Valid AZ driver's license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.
