The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $182,820 - $242,178.2 Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job‑related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. S&C is the specialist in high‑voltage switching, protection and control, providing products for the electric power industry since 1911. The Director - Production Operations, Fabrication oversees the fabrication function within the SwitchGear Value Stream. This individual is part of the Switchgear leadership team reporting to the VP - Production Operations Switchgear and will be a key decision‑maker. They are required to be a strategic thought partner with a hands‑on attitude and maintain managementoperating plans and visual floor management systems. The Director must have experience in change management, solid problem‑solving skills, the ability to give constant attention to detail, a desire for accountability, the ability to coach, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Finally, this individual must have a proven record of team member development to align with our Career Framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop operating plans and budgets to support the strategic vision for fabrication within the Switchgear Value Stream.
Develop efficiency and promote quality management practices and disciplines to support the corporate quality vision.
Promote safety awareness and housekeeping and investigate and report on safety incidents.
Accountable for operational expenses with the expectation of delivering on‑budget targets.
Implement process improvements in Assembly, Metal turning, cutting & forming, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, and Powder Paint Finishing that ensure high quality, safe, and efficient production as S&C's Metal Enclosed Gear products continue to grow.
Create and drive a positive work environment, building on the Job Relations best practices deployed throughout the leadership team.
Maintaining a high level of on‑time shipments to both internal and external customers.
Empower managers to achieve weekly, monthly, and annual targets in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost, and Human Development.
Take ownership of the function's KPI's. Create, maintain, and report out on production status through solid visuals such as KPI boards. Report out to executive leadership on performance and progress towards strategic goals.
Coaching and mentoring direct reports in Problem Solving and other LPS/CI activities.
Responsible for decisions regarding hires, promotions, corrective action and terminations.
Serve as a change agent by influencing, communicating and institutionalizing a culture of simplification, standard work, process improvement, and lean principles.
Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

8+ years of progressive production management experience in high and low‑volume complex assembly and fabrication environments containing multiple shifts.
Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment.
Proven experience leading multiple complex product teams within a high mix‑low volume manufacturing environment.
Superb technical aptitude in assembly and fabrication processes, including sheet metal fabrication, welding, and paint finishing.
Excellent communication skills, (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from leadership to support staff, and present influentially to achieve buy‑in from executives, managers and team members.
Sound analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, problem‑solve difficult issues, and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement.
