The Career Service Advisor I is responsible for providing externship, job placement guidance, and assistance to graduates of the assigned Dorsey College campus. Coordinates all aspects of the student externship program at the campus including helping students identify an externship site, monitoring students during the externship period, interfacing with employers, and submitting final grades and reports. The Career Service Advisor I also work to develop relationships with area employers to assist in Externship and Job Placement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conducting an externship meeting with students going out on externship in the module prior to the externship.
Responsible for identifying eligible students to go out on externship in the following module.
Identifying an externship site for each student and notifying the student in writing.
Track student progress throughout the course of the externship including obtaining regular attendance reports and making site visits each module.
Computing each student's final grades, preparing a summary report for each extern and ensuring that all required paperwork is completed and uploaded.
Counsel the student regarding any noted problems and/or referring the problem to the Associate Director and Managing Director for guidance.
Coordinate and conduct on-site meetings to explain the Career Services process.
Assist students with resume writing and cover letters. Maintain a copy of each student's resume to provide employers during a student's job search.
Conduct mock interviews and a Career Services exit interview with each student.
Communicate professionally and on a regular basis, both verbally and in writing with students and graduates regarding their job search activities. Provide motivation and effective career counseling. Each student should be contacted in person weekly at minimum; contacts should be documented in CampusVue.
If a student is waiving Career Services assistance, obtain supporting documentation.
Meet with all eligible graduates returning to Career Services to review the returning graduate's resume, to identify the graduate's career goal, and to establish a job search plan with the graduate.
Actively contact employers to develop a working relationship and to identify current employment openings and externship opportunities.
Select and refer appropriately qualified students to available job orders in a timely and professional manner.
Respond to job order specifications from employers, and record employer's account record/job orders in the CampusVue database in a timely and accurate manner.
Follow-up with employers regarding all job orders and facilitate job interviews.
Participate in local job fairs, chamber of commerce meetings, and other industry events to promote Dorsey's graduates and Career Services.
Coordinate and organize advisory meeting and collect Employment Program Verification Forms from employers.
Conduct on-campus job fairs
Attend Career Service meetings and other faculty/staff in-service meetings as assigned.
Submit all reports as required.
For license programs, work with the academic's team to assist students in obtaining their license.

Under the directions of the Nursing Director, the Nursing Associate Director will be assisting with the operation of a successful premier practical nursing program. The Nursing Associate Director assists in the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, and ensuring program compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies, as applicable. These responsibilities require leadership in both academic and workforce areas and include meeting student retention goals, directing and participating in educational planning, program organization, staffing, training and supervision of both full- time and part-time faculty, evaluating program faculty and student performance, motivating, and advising students. The individual that serves as a Director of Nursing is a faculty member who serves as a liaison with the administration of the College, while also performing ad-ministrative functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Participate in staff/headcount planning, interviewing/selecting, orienting, and mentoring of faculty.
Assign and/ or support student placement at external clinical sites
Manage student orientation.
Review student files/records, including documentation required for student clinical placement
Teach some non-clinical courses.
Develop and maintain relationships with Practical Nursing Program students and responds to day-to-day issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
At least five years full-time experience in the practice of nursing as a Registered Nurse or part-time equivalent.
A minimum of two years of teaching experience in a professional registered nursing program as a faculty member.
Active, unencumbered licensure in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
Current American Heart Association Compliant Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, and/or laboratory format based on the approved course outline by selecting and utilizing a variety of approved course materials and teaching methods that address all learning modalities to ensure that the needs of individual students in the program are met.
Assess student learning using appropriate methods.
Demonstrate effectiveness with strong outcomes in Student Retention, Student Success, and Student Attendance, as measured by the Faculty Development Program.
Conduct an engaging classroom lecture and/or lab based on the course outline.

Demonstrate professional growth in the subject in which you teach through a combination of several of the following activities: membership and participation educational associations, professional organizations, continuance of education, concurrent related business experience, educational research, and awareness of current practices and standards. Prior experience teaching is preferred, as applicable.
Require a degree, diploma, or certificate in the field taught from a post‐secondary institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. DOE and two years' documented experience in the subject taught or three years of significant job‐related, documented experience for those instructors without specific education in the field.
Certifications Required:

SUMMARY:
The Director of Nursing is directly responsible and accountable for the operation of a successful premier practical nurse program. This includes ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, and ensuring program compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies, as applicable. These responsibilities require leadership in both academic and workforce areas and include meeting student retention goals, directing and participating in educational planning, program organization, staffing, training and supervision of both full-time and part-time faculty, evaluating program faculty and student performance, motivating, and advising students. The individual that serves as a Director of Nursing is a faculty member who serves as a liaison with the administration of the College, while also performing administrative functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Actively involved in the identification of Practical and Registered Nursing students.
* Identify and recruit qualified faculty for the program.
* Ensure that faculty is providing quality education to the students.
* Conduct faculty evaluations and handle all communication regarding student-teacher evaluations.
* Monitor clinical activity with the assistance of the Clinical Coordinator.
* Monitor satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and counsel students as necessary.
* Assist in new student orientation and graduate recognition.
* Participate in student activities and be available to students on break, before, and after school.
* Prepare annual reports and extensive self-study reports.
* Periodically review Registered Nurse (RN) licenses and teacher's certificates and work with staff to maintain and advance appropriate credentials.
* Provide counseling to applicants and admitted students regarding admission, transfer, and dismissal from the program.
* Coordinate the annual core curriculum evaluations of the program, assessment of institutional effectiveness plan, and prepare reports.
* Review the Program curriculum on an annual basis with regard to program curricula and make appropriate recommendations for changes
* Other related tasks as assigned and deemed necessary.
INTER/INTRA-AGENCY COMMUNICATION AND DELIVERY:
* Ensure contractual agreements are maintained with clinical facilities and affiliate organizations.
* Secure qualified and knowledgeable LPN Advisory Board members from the local community and encourage their involvement in helping the program produce highly qualified and very well-trained practical nurses.
* Schedule and coordinate annual meetings of the LPN Advisory Board seeking the Board's counsel on improvement of the program, maintaining program relevance with the medical community, and meeting workforce needs.
* Communicate and maintain an effective relationship with The Michigan Board of Nursing. Provide requested documentation and follow guidelines as outlined by the Michigan Department of Community Health.
* Coordinate community health programs (health fairs, blood drives) for students and faculty.

* Ability to work well with a team of other department managers to ensure symmetry of operations.
* Ability to effectively motivate and manage a large team of faculty to ensure successful student outcomes.
* Proficient with basic office equipment, computers, and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
* Working knowledge of Dorsey policies and procedures.
* Working knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agency policies, as applicable.
* Working knowledge of CampusVue software preferred but not required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
* Master's degree in nursing (MSN) required.
* Work experience as an RN in a medical setting.
* Minimum of one year of teaching experience in a post-secondary environment; experience as a PN Instructor is preferred.
* Must be student-focused individual with a passion for education.
WORKING / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* May be required to work early on occasion (for hospital visits) and occasionally on evenings/weekends (for campus visits and annual in-service trainings)
* Willingness to work hours in excess of a typical work week when necessary

The Obstetric (OB) instructor performs as the expert and is entrusted with imparting the knowledge and skills each student needs to be successful by providing quality delivery of assigned courses while ensuring that all students become competent in the course objectives. Instructors evaluate and resolve student questions, issues and problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to the satisfaction of the student, Dorsey College, and/or regulatory agencies in compliance with policy, procedures, and legal requirements. Instructors are to be motivating, fair and impartial, creative, dedicated, and professional.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, and/or laboratory format based on the approved course outline by selecting and utilizing a variety of approved course materials and teaching methods that address all learning modalities to ensure that the needs of individual students in the program are met.
* Assess student learning using appropriate methods.
* Demonstrate effectiveness with strong outcomes in student retention, student success, and student attendance, as measured by the faculty development program.
* Conduct an engaging classroom lecture and/or lab based on the course outline.
* Motivate students by demonstrating sensitivity for concerns and actively involving students in classroom discussions and/or activities.
* Advise students on attendance, grades, and issues throughout the module and mid-term to ensure successful completion of their course.
* Contact absentee students by text, email, and/or phone as needed to improve retention.
* Manage classroom environment through compliance with campus policies including but not limited to classroom management, attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.
* Ensure instructor preparedness before class by listing the following information on the white board in class: Instructor Name and Contact Information (Google Voice Phone Number and Dorsey Email Address), Date, Class Name, Day's Objectives, and Next Session Objectives.
* Monitor and prepare supplies and equipment to ensure readiness prior to class, informing appropriate campus personnel when areas requiring attention are discovered.
* Participate in faculty, staff, committee, and in-service meetings. Attendance at commencement is strongly encouraged.
* Demonstrate professional growth in the subject in which you teach through a combination of several of the following activities: membership and participation educational associations, professional organizations, continuance of education, concurrent related business experience, educational research, and awareness of current practices and standards. Attendance at seminars, conventions, field visits, vendor shows, equipment exhibits, etc., are excellent opportunities for instructors to gain enrichment. Professional writing by an instructor is also an example of professional growth.
* Actively support other departments such as Financial Aid, Admissions, and Career Services.
* Ensure that all educational activity is conducted in a legal and ethical manner.
* Demonstrate continuous improvement by working within the guidelines of the Company's Faculty Development Program or other criteria as identified (such as success Rate, retention rate, student attendance rate, student evaluations of instructor, and final exam pass rates).
* Maintain employer relationships by at least annual contacts with employers; both visits can be virtual, either via zoom or telephone conversation. Documented visits will be completed on the Liaison Form.
* Facilitate all courses included in the curriculum if OB is not available and/or when necessary; except Pediatrics, unless experienced.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Experience in Obstetrics is required. Examples: Labor and Delivery background and/or caring for Childbearing mothers as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a comparable position.
* Must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing science (BSN) or be an individual who is actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is qualified to teach in the Registered Nurse program. Courses not entitled "NUR" may be facilitated by a qualified degree in the subject taught. Documented enrollment in BSN program required. 'Exception" paperwork must be submitted with the Michigan Board of Nursing (MBON) prior to instructor teaching.
* One year of documented experience related to the course taught, preferred.
