1881

Chaplaincy Services: 1881 – Present Pastors have always been an integral part of Concordia Lutheran Ministries – it was, after all, a group of Lutheran pastors from Pittsburgh who first decided to start a mission for orphans and seniors in Cabot.

1897

Ten years after the founding of the college, on October 31, 1897, Pastor Dau lead the procession from the College Administration Building to the new church for its dedication.

1916

From the dedication of Oertel Care Center’s All Saints Chapel in 1916 to this day, every major residential Concordia building expansion has featured a chapel where residents can gather to express and celebrate their faith.

1933

Concordia Christian Day School was "postponed" in 1933 due to the effects of the depression, after having been in operation for 56 years.

1946

It reopened in 1946, and has offered a Christian education to the children of Concordia and the surrounding community ever since.

1954

By 1954, Concordia decided to cease the farm operations, sell the livestock and farm equipment and lease the land to local farmers.

1958

In 1958, under the leadership of Pastor Richard F. Lineberger, the new sanctuary was constructed on the very site where the old Concordia College Administrative Office had once stood.

1982

Skilled Nursing: 1982 – Present The construction of the Charles C. Markus Hall (typically referred to as just Markus Hall) on the Concordia at Cabot campus was the beginning of our skilled nursing care services.

1997

In 1997, ConcordiaCare was launched as our first home care service line and offered private duty services to those in need.

The Sisters of St Joseph of Baden, PA, a congregation of Catholic sisters, founded the ministry of Villa St Joseph in 1997 in order to meet the critical health care needs of elderly residents in Beaver County and surrounding communities as well as the needs of the sisters.

2003

In 2003, ConcordiaCare changed its name to Concordia Visiting Nurses and the service line began experiencing exponential growth.

2006

An additional wing was added to the school in 2006 which houses the middle school classes, and also provides the space for Jr. and Sr.

2015

In 2015, Concordia Community Support Services was established as a management company for Concordia’s home and community-based service lines.

2018

With joy and gratitude in 2018, the Sisters of St Joseph, along with the Villa St Joseph family, celebrated 21 years of this loving and compassionate ministry.

2021

With the creation of Concordia-IRMC VNA in 2021, Concordia’s in-home hospice care expanded to serve patients in Indiana County and the surrounding communities.
