The Mental Health TechnicianNurse Secretary helps provide therapeutic services to psychiatric patients under Trauma Informed Care principles in accordance with the Registered Nurse's directions and the established treatment plan. Working under general supervision for routine situations, this role serves psychiatric patients across the life span through various treatment programs, such as educational groups and 1:1 interaction.
Essential Job Function
* Observes and reports changes in patient symptoms and behaviors to the Registered Nurse in order to make necessary changes to the care plan.
* Helps communicate effectively and graciously with patients and families to keep them involved in the care process, including through the facilitation of patient educational groups.
* Performs safety checks and environmental rounds, documenting procedures and updating the Registered Nurse with progress.
* Checks supply stocks in order to meet patient and nursing needs and budgetary constraints in line with the department goals.
* Supports the provision of patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse, including measuring vital signs and capillary blood glucose, preparing EKGs, transporting patients, and assisting with ambulation elimination needs.
* Responds to verbal and nonverbal communication from psychiatric patients in order to communicate empathetically and meet needs.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
* Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred: Successful completion of Nursing Assistant Certificate and/or Associate?s Degree in human service field preferred
Experience
* Preferred: A minimum of one year of experience in behavioral health field or health care field
Licensure/Certification/Listing

Clinical Support Technician II needed for Critical Care Unit (CCU). The CCU is an 18 bed unit that provides comprehensive medical and surgical care to the most medically fragile adults.
This position is located at the Hillsborough Campus. UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus is a community hospital which is an extension of UNC Medical Center focusing on many of our elective surgical programs. The 163‐bed facility combines a community hospital culture with the innovative procedures and care for which the UNC Medical Center is known. The Hillsborough Hospital is located at 460 Waterstone Drive, Hillsborough, NC and offers free parking to employees.
Night shifts (7:00pm ‐ 7:30pm) with weekend and holiday rotation.
This position requires the ability to attend a week long orientation (Monday through Friday) which is offered every two weeks.

Summary:
The Clinical Support Technician II is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and performing a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of the patient care unit desk area functions. Performs patient care requiring clinical and procedural knowledge and skills requiring the use of sterile techniques, infusion monitoring, and medical equipment. Coordinates the flow of communications on the patient care unit. The Clinical Support Technician II may or may not be given a defined patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager / charge nurse. Responsibilities:
1. Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
2. Critically review patient care documentation making note of any significant changes in the patient's condition and make an immediate report to a registered nurse or physician.
3. Provide a variety of clerical tasks to include but not limited to organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, researching information as requested by nurses and physicians, reviewing orders for logic and clarity, revising orders as requested by the nurse, answering the telephone/ patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Perform routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies.
4. Provide administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry

Provide clinical support assistance to include, but not limited to, cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware problems, changing linens, checking supply inventory, re‐stocking supplies, transporting patients/ supplies/ specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.

Performs Oxygen room set‐up and monitors oxygen flow‐rate, performs oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal suctioning, tracheostomy care, fecal impaction removal, sterile dressing change wound irrigation, IV fluid assembly and monitoring, IV site care and discontinue peripheral IV, ostomy irrigation and care, urinary catheterization and irrigation, performs established oral, nasogastric, gastrostomy tube feeding

Summary:

Responsibilities:
1. Verifies the existence of an appropriate history and/or examination data in preparation for procedure.
2. When determined competent, performs all ECG procedures approved for the position, and as detailed in the position's Skills Checklist to include, but not limited to: Obtains 12-lead ECG tracings with rhythm strips in routine and emergency situations; Performs IPG tests and associated record keeping; Confirms EKGs in Muse, making changes where indicated; Performs lower venous and arterial studies; Performs treadmill for stress testing, Dobutamine, Adenosine and Persantine, if trained; Performs signal average tests, if trained; Hooks up 30-day Event Monitor, if trained.

This position is located at the Hillsborough Campus. Summary:
Responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms and performing a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of the patient care unit desk area functions.
Responsibilities:
1. Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
2. Critically reviews patient care documentation making note of any significant changes in the patient's condition and make an immediate report to a registered nurse or physician.
3. Provides a variety of clerical tasks to include but not limited to organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, researching information as requested by nurses and physicians, reviewing orders for logic and clarity, revising orders as requested by the nurse, answering the telephone/ patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Performs routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies. Provides administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry.
4. Provides clinical support assistance to include, but not limited to, cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware problems, changing linens, checking supply inventory, re-stocking supplies, transporting patients/ supplies/ specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.
5. Provides direct personal care to patients as outlined in plan of care activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting with ambulation. Measures and records vital signs, and patient height and weight. May be responsible for specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, and/or postural drainage.
6. Reinforces routine teaching given to patients by the registered nurse or physician and document patient understanding of instructions. Distributes patient education materials at the request of patients and/or health care providers
