Under supervision of an RN, the Cardiac Telemetry Tech assists with clinical care by monitoring and recording cardiac rhythms. Responsibilities: * Documents and interprets patient's heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings. Identifies patient arrhythmias/abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reports changes immediately to the assigned nurse. * Alerts nursing staff in the event of arrhythmias/abnormalities or significant changes from baseline. * Issues telemetry equipment to patients newly admitted to unit. Maintains inventory of and tracks issued equipment. * Coordinates with outside vendor support to maintain and service telemetry equipment. * Tracks and ensures continuity of telemetry, recording patient leaving unit or disconnecting leads and working to ensure effective return to measurement. * Ensures patient safety at all times by notifying the charge nurse of any risk factors seen initiating and maintaining appropriate safety measures as outlined in policies and procedures. * Inputs clinical documentation and charges into electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool * Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the Monitor Technician orientation/skills checklist, which includes an annual EKG competency test.
