    The Radiologic Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for providing high-quality patient care during Computed Tomography (CT) procedures and diagnostic imaging examinations using approved workflows and procedural protocols. Working under direct supervision, this position uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. Essential Job Function * Performs routine and special CT and diagnostic exams adhering to established protocols to minimize additional imaging and limit radiation dose, maintaining exam productivity within established benchmarks. * Follows instructions from physicians regarding which area of the patient?s body needs imaging. * Talks the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety and increase their understanding of the procedure. * Positions the patient correctly and adjusts the imaging equipment to the specified position to create quality images of specific parts of the body. * Reviews and assesses patient medical histories to determine appropriate imaging parameters for accurate results. * Operates and maintains advanced CT equipment, adhering to safety protocols and conducting regular maintenance checks to ensure precise and reliable imaging results. * Records and documents all CT scans and associated information in Computerized Health Information (CHL) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), verifying charges and addressing discrepancies for smooth workflow. * Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: 1. Documentation Schedules patient for hospital transportation. Coordinates with general anesthesia, med/surg teams, inpatient chemo pharmacy, and intensive care units to minimize patient delays. Creates procedural order, if necessary. Confirms patient identity and that correct procedural consent has been obtained. Knows acceptable lab values and procedure contraindications and shares information with attending physician if a variance is identified. Maintains room procedure sheet for documentation of procedure performed and all supplies used during the course of the procedure. Equipment Operation: Provides high quality multi-modality imaging support during interventional procedures using fluoroscopic, ultrasound, and computed tomography equipment. Demonstrates understanding of specialized imaging techniques to achieve optimum results in patients with compromised cardiothoracic output or evidence of malignancies that impede ideal circumstances forprocedural imaging. Performs portable interventional procedures requiring use of ultrasound equipment.     The Special Procedures Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for the application of prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological assessment, diagnosis and therapy. Works under the direction of a radiologist. Assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, and others to capture images of blood vessels and treat organ-system diseases. The Procedural Technologist performs a variety of technical, diagnostic, therapeutic and patient care tasks for patients with cardiovascular disease using radiological and cardiovascular sciences. The Technologist assists credentialed care providers in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in a range of settings including the Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology Lab, and Vascular Lab. Responsibilities: · Assists physicians with obtaining digital radiographic images of heart, peripheral vessels and any other required structures. · Ensures room is prepared and stocked for the upcoming procedure. Sets up and prepares suite for upcoming procedures, including sterile trays, catheters, wires, contrast and other supplies needed as guided by the physician. Assists with routine inventory management tasks. · Verifies patient identification. Interviews patients to collect and document prior medical history. · Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patient for effective imaging. · Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathology. · Inputs and organizes patient information and diagnostic images in both primary electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) system and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). · Performs daily quality checks for procedural areas. Practices and ensures radiation safety per documented protocol. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control. Other information: Qualifications Hired candidates are expected to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification after hire. Training and assessment opportunities will be provided. Required · Completion of an accredited educational program in health science, including but not limited to: cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT. · Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. · The role includes on-call responsibilities and requires the employee to arrive on-site within a 30-minute response window.
