The route begins in Binghamton, NY , where you'll pick up a trailer, deliver product to a customer location in Atlantic City, NJ , and then return the trailer to the original pickup point in Binghamton. Preparation and completion of the appropriate paperwork mandated by the Department of Transportation and Palmer Food Services including but not exclusive of the reconciliation report, driver log (when applicable), DVIR (driver vehicle inspection report), pre-trip mileage sheet, product return sheet, vacation request forms, and any forms needed concerning benefits. Learn and understand the appropriate invoicing and product return paperwork to accurately account for all products being delivered or returned. Perform and document a pre-trip and post-trip inspection of every piece of equipment used on every workday. The safe operation of a commercial vehicle following the guidelines set forth by the Department of Transportation and policies instituted by Palmer Food Services. Accurate delivery of a wide range of products to various customers in a safe manner and in a way that is not detrimental to the integrity of the product. Proper customer relations to ensure continued business. Delivery of products using a commercial vehicle, handcart, ramp, and any other piece of equipment used in prompt, safe deliveries. Communicate with transportation department personnel using cell phones. Recording of mileage and delivery time daily. Taking personal care of vehicle driven pertaining to cleanliness and maintenance. Attend and promptly arrive to all Transportation departmental bi-monthly meetings that have been stated as mandatory. Train new drivers on routes. Presents a professional image to internal/external customers and vendors with appropriate dress according to the work situation while maintaining good grooming and hygiene. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Clean CDL Class A license. Minimum of 1-2 years of prior delivery experience. Must have the ability to lift product weighing up to 100 lbs on a consistent basis. Required to climb in and out of a commercial vehicle and operate in a safe manner. Full-time Description Primary Purpose: The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for providing sales support to the outside sales force; servicing customers who walk-in or make phone / internet inquiries; expediting orders and providing assistance to customers during the sales and delivery process. The primary goal is to ensure that all customer contact and follow-up occurs on a timely basis and that all information provided to customers is accurate and up-to-date. Essential Functions include the following. Assist the outside sales force and branch management team with sales-related activities such as preparing quotes on the sale or rental of equipment, obtaining and confirming pricing, verifying equipment status and availability, following up on and expediting orders, and responding to customer questions, issues and concerns. Directly work with customers who make contact either by phone, internet or walk-in. Provide equipment specifications, Feature-Benefit information, and pricing. Prepare rental order or purchase paperwork as needed. Communicate information on equipment delivery and pick-ups to Rental Manager. As needed, notify customer of changes to delivery / pick-up schedule. Make arrangements and process paperwork for inter-branch transfer of equipment. Notify outside sales reps of activity from their assigned list of customers. Communicate status of quotes, orders and deliveries. Assist outside sales reps with follow-up of leads and quotes. Assist sales reps with customer contacts - to obtain feedback on recent sale, rental or service and/or to re-establish customer account. Work with branch personnel to resolve customer problems, issues and concerns. Document problems/issues and the action taken to resolve them. Maintain contact with customer to ensure problems are fully resolved to customer's satisfaction. Maintain and organize sales related brochures, catalogs and other promotional materials. Make sure sufficient inventory of items is on hand to meet the level of sales activity at branch. Assist outside sales reps as needed in the distribution of materials. Work on rental counter as needed to cover peak periods or absences. Answer incoming phone calls and refer to appropriate department for handling. Assist customers if possible. Attend product training sessions and sales meetings. Assist with preparation for trade shows and other promotional events. Represent company at events as needed. Requirements Required Experience / Education - The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position. Education and Experience: High school degree required; 2 years experience working in an equipment rental, parts and/or service department desired. Some college or vocational training preferred. Knowledge of and experience with construction equipment extremely helpful. Language Skills: Ability to read and understand written directions and procedures. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively communicate with managers and other employees. Must be able to effectively communicate face-to face, over the phone or through email. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and work with common fractions and decimals to figure items such as discounts. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts. Ability to interpret and follow instructions, solve problems involving concrete variables within well defined situations. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, hear, talk, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms to reach, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to distinguish colors. The work environment is that of a typical warehouse office. Some exposure to cold, heat, noise, fumes and dust. Other: Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software, able to multi task efficiently. Demonstrated customer service skills required.
